Throughout the history of television, Superman has long since proven to be a repeatedly successful franchise. In the 1990's, when LOIS AND CLARK debuted on network television, many critics assumed it would be short lived. The critics erred as this program turned out to be very successful both in viewers and quality. So, it is no surprise that Superman would be tapped again for a television series. Well, actually, it would be "Superboy" who would be tapped as a new series dubbed SMALLVILLE centered on the life of Clark Kent as a teenager in a Middle American town.

Superboy

The "Superboy" concept was a major departure from most Superman programs and it was considered somewhat of a risk. (There was a Superboy pilot shot in the 1950's but it never aired and the series was scrapped) Then again, the popularity of superheroes in the movies opened the door for more creative ventures and SMALLVILLE was launched. And, yes, it was an excellent program and there are many excellent SMALLVILLE episodes.

Smallville

The focus of the program centered on a young Clark Kent's slow discovery of who he is and what his place in the world may be. This created a very strong emotional link with many member of the viewing audience. After all, everyone struggles with their own identity when they are teenagers. These struggles can be additionally complex when the teenager is different from his peers. No, there are no teenagers that have to struggle with being an alien from a distant, destroyed world. (Well, none that we know of!) But, this struggle that a young Clark Kent must face is symbolic of all struggles many teenagers go through. It is this emotional chord visible through the entire SMALLVILLE episode guide that makes it so popular. Now do you realize why SMALLVILLE DVD sales are so strong?

Smallville Seasons

This theme is most evident in SMALLVILLE SEASON 7 where Clark must use what he has learned in his (brief) life experiences to help his cousin Kara. Kara, having also been born on Krypton, is dealing with the same dilemma that Clark had dealt with. That is, how does she fit in as a stranger in a strange land? Unfortunately, she is unable to and her bizarre and erratic behavior encompasses much of SMALLVILLE SEASON 7.

In a way, this flawed relationship between Clark and Kara is symbolic of the paths people take in life based on the decisions they make when they are young. Kara's choices are wrong and nothing Clark says or does can dissuade her. That is just the way life works out sometimes.

Interrelationships between Smallville Characters

Therein lay the success of SMALLVILLE. The program is not so much about superheroes as it is about the interrelationship between characters. Yes, there are a number of heroes and villains who make appearances throughout the program. Yes, there are a number of action sequences and over the top plotlines that comprise the series. In the end, however, the success of the program centers on how it humanizes its characters and provides them with sense of depth not seen in hero programming before.

In a way, these superheroes are very real people underneath. That is the aspect of the program that makes it so compelling. Programs of such quality are rare. That is why this incarnation of Superboy where the 1950's version was immediately forgotten.

This is an article written by one of our Smallville fans of the Smallville Gemzies. Child's Robin Hood Halloween Costume (Size: Medium 6-8)

Remember the days when you didn't buy your kids Halloween costumes?Instead, Moms (or kids) would make the costumes! Usually it would be something simple like a ghost or a hobo, and the kids were satisfied with that. If you had a mom who had a little time and some sewing skills, sometimes they'd be more elaborate.I remember one year our mom made my older brother a hot dog costume! The year before that, he was a Christmas Tree!

These days though, our children are much more demanding. They want to be the latest super hero, or a character in a movie they just saw. It's a little much for mom to make at home. Sometimes they even want multiple costumes, so they don't have to show up at different parties in the same costume. Store bought costumes though, are not only expensive for one night of wear, but they lack imagination and creativity. More and more people seem to be going back to wearing homemade costumes. The more creative, the better!

There are many benefits to making your own costume. For one, it's normally a lot cheaper than buying a costume. A lot of times, you can use stuff you've already got laying around the house. Making your costume requires some imagination and creativity, things a lot of kids these days are missing out on. It's something that kids and parents can do together, and time together is something else we don't get a lot of. Homemade costumes are better for contests too! People are more impressed with something you made yourself, and kids are more proud to wear it.

All you have to do to find some great homemade costume ideas is to look around your own home. Do you have sweatshirts and sweatpants? That's half of a costume right there! There's lots of things you can do depending on what color they are. Are they white? Add some spots and become a Dalmation. With some wings and a halo you're an angel! If your clothes are green, find an old headband and hot glue some "petals" onto it cut out from fun foam. It's a flower! A brown outfit and and you can be a dog, or my personal favorite, a clothesline! My family has won contests with that one! All you need is two people, matching sweats, some rope, and some funny underwear to hang on it!

Some other great ideas you can do with stuff you already have is a tired housewife/mom costume, or a hobo, or a gypsy. You can just throw together a bunch of remnants from Halloweens past and just be "Halloween". Whatever you do, it's bound to be a hit with a little effort and imagination. You may just have the best costume out there! Happy Halloween!

Friday The 13TH Classic Halloween Horror Film Movie Chop Basic Adult Black T-Shirt

The Pooka is the Anglicisation of the Old Gaelic word Puca, it refers to the most feared and respected fairy in Celtic folklore. According to legend, the Puca can metamorphose into a wide variety of shapes, it may appear as a horse, rabbit, goat, dog or goblin. However, it most commonly assumes the shape of a dark horse with yellow eyes, it roams the countryside at night smashing down fences and gates, terrifying and scattering livestock.

Certain agricultural traditions surround the Puca, at the end of harvesting, a small deformed goblin shows up in search of a small share of the crops, if he is not placated he will wreak havoc, so the croppers leave behind a small amount of the crop which has become known as the Puca's share to satisfy the ravenous goblin. Only one man ever managed to tame a puca - Brian Boru, when high King of Ireland, managed to ride a puca until it surrendered to his will. He forced the puca to make two promises - firstly that he would no longer torment Christians and secondly that he would no longer attack Irishmen except those who were drunk are were roaming with evil intent.

The puca agreed but has the centuries rolled by it forgot it's bargain and returned to it's old ways. However, in some areas the Puca is spoke about with quite an amount of deference and is treated with more respect than fear. It is stated that if the Puca is treated with respect they can actually turn out to be beneficial rather than malevolent.

Alice in Wonderland - Mad Hatter Adult Halloween Costume Size 42 Medium (D6494M)(DP5)

Alice in Wonderland - Mad Hatter Adult Halloween Costume Size 42 Medium includes: Hat, jacket, pants and vest with tie.

Halloween is a time when anyone can be a kid at heart. You can celebrate the spookiest holiday of them all to your heart's content without having to break the bank in the process. With a little thought, you can create great-looking Halloween decorations. You're limited only by your imagination.

Spooky Halloween Decorating Tips

Halloween can be a wonderful time for decorating, since it's so different from any other holiday, and it has really taken off as a chance to let people's imaginations run wild over the past few years. Here are a few ideas for adding some spooky Halloween spirit to your home:

You can easily make a very attractive display by carving holes in apples the size of votive candles and then allowing the candles to float in a large glass punch bowl, galvanized metal bucket, or tub. It can be especially effective when all the lights are dimmed.

If you're having a Halloween get-together, you can keep the punch cold by freezing water in a rubber glove and then adding it to the punch bowl. It will effectively keep the punch from getting too warm while adding a wonderfully macabre touch to your table decorations.

Another fun thing you can do to dress up your punch bowl is to add plastic spiders and other creepy crawly things to your ice cubes by simply adding them to the water when you put your ice cube trays in the refrigerator. They'll add a nice eerie touch of holiday spookiness to your Halloween party.

On the outside of your home, make sure to add plenty of dry leaves around the porch. Their crunch and dead looks will make your Halloween decorations even more convincing, lending a haunted-house look to your holiday dcor.

A Tree for Halloween?

Another unusual, but effective decoration is a Halloween tree. Manufacturers turn out strings of outdoor lights for almost every holiday nowadays, so it won't be hard to find orange lights and other spooky decorations for your tree. Just check your local home improvement center or large department store. Your kids will also have a wonderful time helping to create skeletons, bats, witches, and all the other assorted characters that have a special place at Halloween time to hang on your tree. Take a standard artificial Christmas tree as your starting point and then let your imagination run wild.

If you have railings on your porch, you can also find Halloween-colored garland to thread through the rails at the same store where you found your Halloween lights for the tree. It can be especially potent when combined with your spookily decorated Halloween tree.

There's an ever increasing variety of Halloween-related decorating choices to add spookiness to your holiday dcor. You can put a special welcome mat in front of your door, you can get stick-on figures for your windows, you can get motion sensitive manikins that will make scary noises and move around when someone gets too close, and you can even buy fog machines to turn your front porch into one of the spookiest places in town on Halloween night.

Your decorations don't need to be expensive, however. Even small touches like painting river rocks along your walkway orange and adding figures or phrases like "boo" can help add to the overall ambience of your Halloween decorating. If you have a tall tree branch hanging in your garden, hang a stuffed sheet "ghost" and attach it to a hidden rope. Have someone hide and pull the rope back and forth to make the ghost move.

The bottom line: have fun with it. Halloween may be thought of as a children's holiday, but it can make for some of the most fun decorating that an adult can do every year!

2008 Michael Myers Halloween Mask

New for 2008, this Michael Myers "The Mask" is great for Halloween. Adult Sized. Latex with attached hair. Nothing scares more people on Halloween night, than Michael.

Halloween is almost here and there is a lot of talk about child safety at this time of the year. But, what about the safety of our other children, our pets? Today we want to offer some great tips for keeping your dogs safe on Halloween.

Let's get started! To keep your dog safe, you'll only need his regular items. Those are his or her leash, his or her collar, his or her crate and his or her favorite treats.

The first thing to remember is "don't leave your dog outside unattended". Being a dog owner, you are already aware of all the mischief that kids get in when they see a dog alone in a yard. It's 100 times worse on Halloween, so be ready ahead of time. The next thing to watch out for is your Halloween decorations. Your pet, whether it's a dog or any other furry friend that runs around, will not think twice about running right into your pumpkin that you light up with a candle or for that matter any other decoration that may have candlelight. Nothing good can come of the two getting together. The third thing to think about is for those of us who like to dress up our pets in a Halloween costume.

Does our pet like it also? Make sure that they do and remember it's always best to try it on ahead of time; maybe more than once; just to be sure there are no problems ahead. Another thing we need to remember is not to get tempted to give our pet any of the trick or treat candy. This is especially true for chocolate, which is very bad for your dog, as are the aluminum foil wrappers that they often times come in. The last thing we need to talk about is your dog being around a lot of strangers, especially in costume. If you are not sure that your dog can accept being around costumed people, then it is best to not have him or her there, especially if you are having a party in the house. Remember, it's your pet's house also. He or she may not want an invasion of costumed strangers entering their domain.

I think we've covered what's necessary to keep Halloween safe for your pet. You know the old saying, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Here's your Halloween checklist once again:

Feed your dog and take him or her for a good walk before all the Halloween activities start

Move your dog's crate to a quiet place so they will feel safe if the activities become too much to handle

Make sure that wearing a costume is ok with your dog

Make sure your dog doesn't mind being around strangers in costume

Have some of your dog's favorite treats on hand and don't give them Halloween candy

Don't leave your dog unattended outside and make sure he or she has current tags and identification, in case they do get away somehow.

If your family is like most, you have special holiday celebrations and traditions that you do every year. To display these holiday memories, create a scrapbook to show past years' celebrations. Whether your traditions include Trick-or-Treating, going to the mall to sit on Santa's lap for a picture, or preparing a special holiday meal, you'll have fun looking back to see how your family has changed from year to year while the traditions have stayed the same.

First, decide whether you want to place all of the holiday memories for one year into their own scrapbook album, or keep each holiday in a separate album that shows the change from year to year. You can start with your earliest photos and work forward, or start with recent years and work backwards. It's completely up to you; there is no one right way to make a scrapbook.

Now, gather all of your photos. If you're like most people, you've got boxes of them hiding somewhere. Bring them out, and look through them to pick out the best photos. Don't just pick out the portraits of your kids sitting on Santa's lap or smiling in their cute Halloween costumes. Choose the less formal ones of your family gathered together, too. These will be the memories you'll cherish for years to come. Pick the best photos from each holiday to include in your scrapbook.

Don't just include photos in your scrapbook. Gather together loved family recipes for the food and cookies you make for the holidays. If you have young children, include holiday-themed art that they've made at school, like turkeys made from handprints. Collect your holiday cards and programs from holiday events. Clip out advertisements for the toys your children want for Christmas. Anything related to your family's holiday traditions will be a great addition to your holiday scrapbook!

Once you've picked out the photos and other memorabilia you want to use, find background pages and embellishments. You can use holiday-colored cardstock for your backgrounds, or be creative and use scraps of wrapping paper or pieces of Halloween costume fabric for unique backgrounds. Layer different colors and textures to make a unique page. For a handmade Christmas background, try cutting out a green tree and painting on ornaments. Cut out a paper Jack-o-Lantern for a Halloween themed page, or draw a black spider web behind the photos.

Embellish your pages with everything from holiday-themed cutouts and paper punches. You can even find special paste that dries into 3-dimensional glittery snow. Decorating your holiday scrapbook doesn't have to break the bank. You can make your own embellishments, or choose from a whole array of ready-made decorations at your local craft store. Be creative! No two families celebrate the holidays in the same way, and your scrapbook should reflect your unique traditions. Add to your holiday traditions by bringing out your new scrapbook each year, looking through past years' celebrations together. It can be quite a treat to see past years' celebrations and watch your family grow from year to year. Once the holidays have passed, set aside time as a family to choose photographs to represent that holiday in your scrapbook.

Partying, dressing up as demented creatures of the night, trick-or-treating---We all have our own take on how to spend the season of fright. Since Halloween falls on a Friday this year, another option is to fulfill that dream holiday that has long been overdue.

Holiday trips are dandy and exciting, but when unseen scary creatures of the night hitchhike with you, the word holiday goes down the drain. Furniture flying, creepy sounds reverberating, horrific images of paranormal all around---If the whole universe decided that Halloween is your unlucky star, these are least of the things you would encounter on your trip. On the other hand, if the universe really hates your guts, your hotel experience while on a trip might just be your worse nightmare.

So before deciding on where to spend your long exotic Halloween weekend and mark up the holiday fright, read a roundup of the scariest hotels in Asia that would really make you wish you hadn't gone out of the house this Halloween

Buma Inn (China)
The Chinese really take this paranormal stuff seriously. Anyone would when the paranormal event includes scary creatures of the night going berserk. Buma Inn in Beijing is haunted by a rampaging ghost out to take revenge. Apparently, a guest in the inn years ago was poisoned by the hotel chef. Guilt-stricken, the hotel chef consequently killed himself after the crime. The horror didn't end there. Until now, the restless ghost of the murdered guest haunts the hotel looking for the chef who poisoned her.

The Savoy Hotel (India)
Positioned in one of India's capital, Mussoorie, The Savoy Hotel became the inspiration of Agatha Christie's novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles. The hotel doesn't only offer luxury, but an unwavering supply of fright, as well. Its former owner, Lady Orme, who allegedly died of poisoning, is said to be haunting the opulent hotel. This scary creature of the night was reportedly seen aimlessly wandering the halls of her former hotel.

Tambun Inn (Malaysia)
The Tambun Inn is one of the favorite hotels in Ipoh, Malaysia. Apparently, wandering tourists are not the only ones crazy about the hotel. Scary creatures of the night are said to be haunting the hotel, as well. Many accounts of ghostly events have been documented. Some of these accounts mentioned about lights turning on and off, sounds of whispers and eerie cries heard in the inn. There was also a report about a ghost of an old woman spotted within the vicinity of the inn.

Toftaholm Herrgard (Sweden)
Everybody loves a romantic story, but putting scary creatures of the night in the mix might change some people's mind about liking them. In Sweden, a hotel named Toftaholm Hergard, a love story ala Romeo and Juliet took place between a commoner and a baron's daughter. However, the baron had his daughter married off to someone else leaving behind her hapless lover. On the day of the wedding, the lover hanged himself from the rafters. His spirit is said to haunt Room 324 where the rafters once were.

The Nottingham Road Hotel (South Africa)
A hotel in KwaZulu-Natal is such a relaxing place that would make any guest want to stay. On the other hand, the guests aren't the only ones convinced that it's comforting to chill out in this hotel. A ghost of a former barmaid is still roaming the hotel moving pots around the pub, opening beer tags, and ringing the service bell. The ghost was also said to have deflated the tires of certain guests who, it turned out, are poor tippers.

A Computer Engineering student and loves to travel. Reading current news in the internet is one of his past times. Taking pictures of the things around him fully satisfies him. He loves to play badminton and his favorite pets are cats.

The right crawfish pot is a great beginning to a fabulous boiled crawfish recipe. All of us wanna-be "Food Network" chefs want to emulate our favorite cooks but always slack on the needed kitchen equipment. We fake it and use whatever is near and dear, but who knows just how great that recipe could have been?

Crawfish is one of the funniest looking crustaceans you would ever want to meet. And no matter how strange looking they are, once you remove them from the crawfish pot and start eating, you completely forget about looks.

Do I Really Want A Mud Bugger?

Crawfish otherwise known as mud buggers or crayfish are from the shrimp and lobster family with a hard outer shell and small meager meat in the claw. They are harvested from swamps, bayous and lakes and are one of the most important and popular elements of the Louisiana cuisine.

Boiling is the most popular form of cooking crawfish and that is what makes the crawfish pot such an important part of the boiled crawfish recipe.

Just how significant is a crawfish pot? Does it really make or break your crawfish recipe? It surely does make a difference.

Crawfish pots are created wide and deep for all the ingredients. Many people are not familiar with Louisiana cooking and do not realize all the elements of an authentic Louisiana dish.

You see, when you cook crawfish that is not the only ingredient being thrown into the crawfish pot. You have garlic, onions, potatoes, andouille sausage, corn and Creole or Cajun seasoning and that's only one version of a hundred recipes for crawfish in Louisiana.

The crawfish pot is important because the bigger the party, the bigger the dish and therefore the crawfish pot will certainly make a difference to your recipe. How many pounds will you cook? Twenty pounds, forty pounds or more starts the party which could very well turn into a weekend event.

Cooking crawfish in the crawfish pot, cooling, peeling and eating are all a delicate science to this recipe. Preparation beforehand must be exact; some salt the crawfish and some don't but to properly clean these little "mud buggers" you must soak and soak until they render all their inner mud puddles outwards before the cooking begins.

Do not jump to the crawfish pot too soon. Complete the cleaning and onto the separation of the dead from the live crawfish. Now onto the crawfish pot for a quick boil.

All that work to get the mud buggers ready for the crawfish pot and when their ready to be removed from the pot, you still need to sit and peel them.

Many will say this seems like too much work for such a small crustacean with little to no meat however just the joy of sharing the Louisiana history of the crawfish recipes amongst friends is well worth the time and effort.

While you're planning your next crawfish get together don't forget to figure out what size crawfish pot you will need to accommodate all the old and new faces ready to party.

My name is Dianna Smith and I live in Texas with my husband and two daughters. My husband is from New Orleans. My in-laws lost most of their possessions due to hurricane Katrina. This included the family recipe book. So, I decided to create a website, Cooking New Orleans Style, where the family recipes could be viewed by all of our displaced friends and family.

COMPUTERS AND HALLOWEEN, DO THEY MIX?

Computer backup is so important to your computer that to ignore it is to risk its damnation.

Computers require care and feeding. They require that you attend to their needs. If you dont, then they will most surely be sent to Hell.

Halloween means Hell. What! What do you mean that Halloween means Hell?

Well, if your computer is given the option of trick or treat, which will it accept? Will it accept the trick or the treat? What do you think?

Halloween is the time that computers are subject to tricks or treats. Did you know that more computers fail on Halloween than any other day of the year? Thats right. Its true (smile). Your computer is in danger! Protect it. Do your computer backups.

Back to the Hell thing. Hell you say? Yep. Well, what do you mean by Hell?

Computer hell is the place for computers without computer backup. The failure to perform hard drive backup means that you are playing Russian Roulette with your data. Data needs your protection. Failure to protect your data may cause your home or business records to be sent to Hell.

Hell in this instance is for the records and files that cannot be resurrected. Resurrected you say, what does that mean?

It means that without computer backup as a source of salvation then the files can safely enjoy eternal oblivion. Oblivion you say, what does that mean? That means they are eternally lost from computer resurrection.

Is there any mercy for my precious files, you ask?

Why yes there is. Would like to know what the mercy for your files is? Yes! Yes! You say.

OK boys and girls listen carefully. The salvation, mercy, resurrection and redemption of your files lies in regular and consistent and persistent computer backup.

If you backup your computer consistently and persistently your files will be resurrected and saved from accidental deletion, hard drive failure and those nasty things like fire, flood, theft, earthquake, hurricanes, tornados and the like!

Computer backup is the key to your datas salvation!

Do your computer backups boys and girls.

Milk and cookies will be served in the pantry.

Trick or treat for your computer backup?

Those whose task it is to plan a baby shower certainly have a number of important jobs to do.

It is the host or hostess' responsibility to order and send the invitations, to prepare the guest list, to settle on a menu, to buy the decorations and the party favors and maybe even to whip up the perfect punch for the baby shower. Before any of this can occur, however, it is important to settle on the perfect baby shower theme.

==Settle On The Theme As Early As Possible==

Without the right baby shower theme, it can be difficult to know what kinds of invitations to buy, what type of food to serve, what kind of party favors to order and even what sort of games to play.

It is on the overall theme that the rest of the elements hinge, and it is important to settle on that theme as early in the planning as possible.

==Matching The Baby shower Theme To The Taste Of The Mother To Be==

Of course if you have been tasked with planning a baby shower, chances are that you know the mother to be quite well already. Using this knowledge is the key to choosing the perfect baby shower theme.

If she has a favorite sports team, a favorite hobby, a favorite band or a favorite TV show, you can use this knowledge and incorporate it into the baby shower theme you choose.

==Finding A Baby Shower Theme For Just About Any Subject==

The good news is that there are baby shower themes for just about every taste, from the simplest to the most elegant. It is possible to find a baby shower theme for just about every subject, from teddy bears to race cars.

==Make Sure That All The Supplies You Choose Fit Well Into The Theme==

After you have chosen the baby shower theme that best suits your guest of honor, the next step is to make sure that all the supplies you choose fit well into that theme.

Customer Review: A Hit!
My boys are average size, 3 and 4.5 years old, and the suit fits them both really well. They already have the red/blue spiderman suit and got quite a kick out of black spiderman! They love the built-in muscles, and the mask is not too tight over the face. The quality is quite good. We are happy with this purchase, and would recommend it.
Customer Review: Perfect!
This was perfect! My son loved the suit and wore it non stop for weeks afterwards.

In the year 1978, one of the most famous movie musicals in the USA is brought to the screen.

Grease is one of the events, the most significant film of the late seventies and will affect a worldwide generation of teenagers. We loved Grease; we wanted to look like Sandy, Rizzo, Marty, Danny, Keneckie or Fonzy. If you were a teenager thirty years ago, you surely sang "You Are The One That I Want" and "Summer Nights".

Halloween is the opportunity to realize our dreams. I dreamed to look like Rizzo. If I choose not to dress a witch costume for this Halloween, I probably will choose Rizzos' costume.

Grease is full of characters and then of different costumes based on the fifties teenagers clothing:

Sandy is blonde, naive and she fell in love with Danny.

Rizzo, leader of the Pink Ladies, is a teenager who lives free according to her own laws. She broke with Danny and is Keneckie's girlfriend.

The Pink Ladies: Frenchie, Marty, Jane are the Pink Ladies. They are generally frivolous, only interested by themselves and want to please the T-Birds.

Danny is the hero of the movie. He is the leader of the T-Birds, rebels of Rydell High School. He is in love with Sandy, but refuses to admit it.

Keneckie is the best friend of Danny; he is also the second T-Birds leader. He lives a passionate love story with Rizzo.

The T-Birds: Sonny, Doody and Fonzy.

If you want to dress like a Grease character for Halloween 2007, you can either buy costumes or make them yourself.

Halloween Purse Pirate Coin Pouch Pirates of The Carribean Johnny Depp

Perfect for any pirate costume. Brass look coin detailing draw string closure allows easy access. 100% polyester. 9 inches wide x 10 inches high.

A great deal of psychological study has been placed in the realm of figuring out what it is about board games which makes us, as people, so devoted and loving of the activity. What exactly is it about the brain that makes it so attached to the activity of competing against each other to solve a problem and win the game? A great deal of it relates to the way that we, as humans, have grown over time and both the value that we place on certain ideals and the deficiencies that we try to make up for in our daily lives. Board games offer us a chance to fulfill many of these needs and because of this, they have maintained a place in our culture for quite some time.

The types of challenges presented from board games come in the form of activities, challenges, and puzzles that we feel that we are qualified to handle. It is a challenge which requires some skill, but they are skills that we feel that we are qualified to operate. Playing a game against a well-matched opponent will provide us the greatest amount of pleasure for it will challenge us and our skills. Playing against someone much better than us would ultimately make us feel inferior, which is against the goal of playing the game; playing against someone not as good as us would ultimately bore us for the game would offer no challenge.

When the game is good enough, it will focus our attention entirely on the task at hand. If we are doing something which is interesting enough to entirely captivate us, we often will slip into a state where we enjoy what we are doing and time will fly past us. This offers us a sort of "escape" from the troubles of everyday life. This state usually will come about much more easily when the goals of the game are clearly defined. If we know what we are working toward, we can figure out what needs to be done much more easily. This helps us in achieving that state of satisfaction.

Learning how to play the game well enough to determine our progress is another important level in determining out satisfaction in playing the game. If we know enough about the game to determine that we are doing well within it, we will be much more happy than if we are lost or confused and not sure of if we are winning or far behind.

The level of control that a board game can provide will often fulfill some of our deepest needs and desires. It allows us to take fate within out hands, within a certain, controlled environment, and allow us to pursue our goals in a way that will have no lasting effects on our lives. It gives us a chance for escapism, where we can enter into a situation and pretend that we are anyone or anything. It gives us a sense of fantasy, allowing us to fulfill our needs for a thrill while staying within the comfort and safety of our own homes. Board games can be a great way for us to feel content with ourselves and the world around us and playing one can be a great way to give ourselves a boost of esteem.

Sexy Adult Halloween Costume Hot Mama Racer (S/M, Pink)

Halloween on the 31st of October has its roots in Irish tradition. The following day, the 1st of November is the official All Saints' holiday. In the USA, Halloween is the second most popular decoration festival, after Christmas.

Halloween was regarded, by many, as the Celtic New Year. A period when animals were traditionally killed and supplies stored up for the long cold winter ahead. This night was also known as the 'festival of the dead.' The night when the boundary between the living and dead becomes blurred. Some however, believed the dead causes problems for the living, such as sickness or crop damage.

It was originally known as All Hallows Day, the eve of All Saints' Day. The two holidays used to be celebrated on the one day. The name was then shortened to Halloween.

Symbols of Halloween:
The jack-o'-lantern has its origin in the Irish legend of a greedy, gambling, hard-drinking old farmer, named Stingy Jack. He fooled the devil into climbing a tree and trapped him by carving a cross into the tree trunk. In revenge, the devil placed a curse on Jack, condemning him to wander the earth at night for ever. The only light Jack had was a candle which he placed inside a hollowed out turnip.

North America transferred the turnip into the larger and more easily available pumpkin. This was placed on the doorstep so as to ward off superstitions.

From nearly a century of filmmakers we have the imagery of ghosts, witches, owls, crows, vultures, black cats, spiders, goblins, zombies, mummies, skeletons and demons all added to the Halloween paraphernalia.

Trick-n-Treat:
When you went outdoors is was prudent to wear a costume so as to blend in with all the 'spirits' of the night. This eventually evolved into trick-n-treat, where children, knocking on neighbour's doors would ask for sweets, nuts and fruit for the Halloween feast. The children had salt sprinkled in their hair to protect them against the evil spirits powers.

In England and Wales you would either receive a treat of food or money, or you would perform a trick. This often involved such things as removing the gate from its hinges and carrying it away to dump in a local pond. Unfortunately, this has led to antisocial behavior among older teenagers. In 2006 police surveillance of the festival had to be stepped up so as to keep law and order.

The Food:
As Halloween follows at the close of the annual apple harvest, apples also became a symbol of the festivity. Apples which had been rolled in sugar syrup and nuts, making candy apples, were commonly given to the children.

In Ireland it is the time of the King Cake, or barmbrack, which is a light fruit cake baked in a ring in which coin and lucky charms are placed before baking. Anyone getting a ring from the cake will find their true love in the coming year.

UNICEF
In 1950 UNCIEF began a program of distributing small boxes to schools, or through some stores, for the trick-or-treaters. The children were asked to solicit small change donations from the houses they visited.
It is estimated the children have collected in the vicinity of $119 million for UNICEF. Sadly, the program has been canceled in certain parts of the world, due to concern for the safety of the children.

Television
The evening of October 31st is the traditional night to sit and view horror, or ghost movies. Perhaps this year, financial crisis and Wall Street has already provided enough horror stories for this year.

To mark Halloween there are many public ghost hunts going on at the most notoriously haunted locations around the UK. This increasingly popular pastime has become fascinating and addictive to many of those that are looking for their own personal experience. Ghostly goings-on and things that go bump in the night are terrifying yet compelling. What is really remarkable is that the public will pay for the privilege of spending the whole night in the darkest of dungeons, or creepiest of castles.

Do ghosts really exist? Can spirits harm us? Will I see something? These are the most common questions asked at a ghost hunt event. Paranormal teams and Mediums suggest that they have the answers to these questions but do they really, and if so why are there so many different answers by so many different experts in the field? Surely there should be one universal agreement, they can hurt us or they can't. I have been on many ghost hunts where I have had a Medium explaining to us that spirits will not hurt us yet people have been scratched or poked during the night's vigils, making the whole debate very confusing.

Whatever is going on and whether spirits can hurt us or not, it does not seem to stop people from attempting to find out. Fortunately for ghost hunting companies many more locations are cashing in on the hiring out of their location for these events. It is not uncommon to be paying over one thousand pounds to hire a location for a few hours. This makes me wonder how they are selected in the first place. Yes, it could be agreed that to ghost hunt at an old manor house or castle is aesthetically pleasing and adds credence to the investigation, It may not necessarily mean that it is haunted. There has been so much paranormal activity in a small innocuous pub than what may have been experienced in the oldest and grandest of castles. However, this would be harder to sell as the public do seem to have a pre-conceived idea of what would be haunted and what does not look haunted.

It seems that due to the increasing popularity of ghost hunting and the public's fascination that there now seems to be a need to clarify whether an activity is actually entertaining if people are being terrified. Perhaps all public ghost hunting companies should have a responsibility to their paying customers and a duty of care to them for what may be experienced on their events. It is confusing, because what may be experienced on a ghost hunt could be very traumatic and life-changing for the customer yet it is done in the name of entertainment. This sounds quite worrying and whilst we may rely on the fact that ghost hunting companies will offer some sort of after-care service for their customers, how do we know that this is happening? You may agree that we all have a choice whether we partake in an activity or not, but as a novice how would you know what your reaction to such an experience may be?

It could be suggested that before anybody books a place on this unique and amazing experience, they think very carefully at how they may react to the abnormal situation they may find themselves in. How many times have you sat in a dark, cold and damp dungeon at 2am on your own and heard strange noises? What will you do if somebody touches you and you can't see them? Whilst you may crave the experience, it certainly does leave its mark on you for a long time to come.

Hazel Ford - owner of UK's leading ghost hunting company. We organise ghost hunts throughout the UK and take members of the public to these very haunted locations. Our ghost hunts are famous for all the right reasons. You can spend the night in a Castle or Mansion or have a psychic supper before ghost hunting with our paranormal team.

Today Halloween is not only geared toward children but the growing number of adults dressing in costume is becoming increasingly higher. While children love to dress up as their favorite characters and walk from house to house trick-or-treating, the trend with adults is the same. They also love to dress up as their favorite characters, but instead of trick-or-treating they dress up for Halloween parties, costume contests, parades or even a night out of clubbing (bar hopping) during the Halloween weekend. Many club owners have extravagant costume contests with the winners receiving some great prizes. This always tends to bring out the competitive side of people making them come up with some really fun and crazy ideas for costumes, and couple costumes are no exception.

Ideas for couple costumes are endless with a wide variety of famous and not-so-famous twosomes past and present. Here are just a few suggestions from different categories for couple costumes:

  • Historical - Cleopatra and Mark Antony; Romeo and Juliet; Adam and Eve
  • Presidential - Bill and Hillary Clinton; Barack and Michelle Obama
  • Movie - Rose and Jack (Titanic); Sandy and Danny (Grease); Bonnie and Clyde; Rhett Butler and Scarlet O'Hara
  • TV - Morticia and Gomez Addams; June and Ward Cleaver; Lucy and Ricky Ricardo; Tarzan and Jane
  • Music - Brittney Spears and Kevin Federline; Heidi Klum and Seal; Ike and Tina Turner; Elvis and Priscilla
  • Cartoons - Fred and Wilma Flintstone, Marge and Homer Simpson; Jane and George Jetson

So if you're looking for something different this year for your big Halloween costume contest, consider grabbing a partner and dressing as a famous couple. Whether it's your wife/husband, boyfriend/girlfriend, brother/sister or even a good friend or co-worker, there is no shortage on ideas for couple costumes, the sky's the limit. Now days, there are so many great Halloween stores on the internet you can find everything you need with the touch of a button. One-stop-shopping, it's that easy!

Zoo Keeper Animal Trainer Child Halloween Costume Size 4-6 Small (B570)

Zoo Keeper Animal Trainer Child Halloween Costume Size 4-6 Small includes: Safari jacket, pants, belt with buckle, safari hat, and monkey toy.

"Trick or treat!" You hear the kids screaming from the porch. You swing open the door to see a Captain America, a Chewbacca, a Dora the Explorer and a lady bug. The kids costumes are all so cute and the Halloween masks are so creepy this year, but something is missing.

It may feel as though you've lost the spirit of Halloween and that deep down, you're just not so excited about this day anymore. Often times, adults forget to do something for themselves and instead look toward Thanksgiving for gratification. Here are some sure-fire ideas that'll have you shouting "happy Halloween" in no time.

It's a lot of work, but if you want to have a really great Halloween costume party, then plan months in advance! Perhaps you'll choose a theme to get started, such as a masquerade, Renaissance vampires, pirates, monsters, 1920s gangsters or any other decorating and costume theme. If it's your first time, then you might want to host a simple dinner of ghoulish delights, followed by a movie.

If you're looking for something outrageous, then just throw some Halloween drinking games or board games into the mix and watch the party explode with laughter. Murder mystery parties come in a box that provide suggestions for food, decorations and costume accessories, as well as providing invitations, character booklets, scripts and a CD/DVD with the compelling conclusion for your "whodunnit" mystery. Check out the Bepuzzled brand for the best selection of murder mystery kits.

To make this a particularly happy Halloween, why not plan a special family vacation to see a special Halloween attraction? At Universal Studios and Disney each October, there are a number of spectacular displays. Universal's "Fangoria Weekends of Horror" will give you intense haunted house displays galore and it was rated one of the best theme park destinations for Halloween, along with Knotts Berry Farm and Tampa Busch Gardens.

Greenwich Village in New York City has an annual Halloween parade and street festival beginning at 7pm Halloween night. On Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, you'll see an impressive annual Halloween Carnival extravaganza. Salem and Philadelphia have special historical haunted ghost tours if you dare. At "Hauntworld" you can find a list of some of the best Halloween attractions around America. If you'd rather stay local, then check for haunted hayrides, haunted houses, corn mazes or walks for ghost hunters in your area.

Perhaps your happy Halloween is diminished by fear after all. You're worried about the kids on their trick or treat mission in the dark. You worry that you'll run out of cupcakes at the party. You fear vandals will trash your house with eggs and toilet paper. Take a deep breath and realize that Halloween is statistically no more dangerous than any other night. Be sure your kids carry flashlights, stick together, wear reflective tape and cross together at crosswalks.

Share with them the very real traffic concern and let them know they'll have to take the adults with them if they can't follow your rules. When planning a party, understand that not everything will be perfect and you can't guarantee that everyone will partake in the Halloween fun. Keep realistic expectations and relax with some witches brew!

Halloween Costume Gothic Vixen Pirate Wench

Vixen Pirate wench with velvet double lace up corset dress.

This fall, many individuals will be in the market for ideas on creative adult Halloween games. When we think about Halloween, we mostly think about all the little kids in their cute little costumes, going door to door with their precious little pumpkins gathering candy. However, as time progresses, many adults are starting to engage in the festivities and activities of this ever-popular holiday.

I mean, we adults like to play too, right? Here, I will share with you some creative adult Halloween game ideas that adults can participate in this Halloween. As always, when seeking out creative adult games for this particular holiday, it is important to keep safety as a first consideration. As long as you keep safety as a strong consideration, you are sure to have a lot of fun this Halloween!

One of the first adult Halloween games that are growing in popularity is "Halloween Idol". This game works much like the ever-popular talent show, "American Idol". Contestants simply choose a talent - singing, dancing, etc. Then, they can be judged on a number of things - like song choice, costume, dance, originality, etc....Once the winner is picked, various types of awards can be issued.

You may choose to give gift cards to local stores, pumpkins full of candy, and a wide assortment of other gifts. The next adult Halloween game that you may elect to play on Halloween may be a homemade version of Ghost Hunters. This can be a relatively exciting game - especially for those who are big on the television show.

You can set this up in a makeshift haunted house, or simply get your city to give you permission to use a local graveyard. If there is an area that is reputed to be "haunted" in your area, check with the owner of that area to see if you can "ghost hunt" in it.

When choosing games for adults this Halloween, it is important to consider the individuals that will be coming to your party. You should consider how many guests that you have, as well as how many kids will be at the party as well.

You should also consider the hours that you will be celebrating and whether or not you will be allowing alcohol at the festivities. There are some games that may not be appropriate if alcohol will be served. Once you have made these determinations, it will be easy to select creative adult Halloween games!

SpongeBob Square Pants(TM) is a comical looking guy popular with young boys. All you need is a rectangular cardboard box and a little acrylic paint. For authenticity, Google an image of this little guy. Note the eye and mouth openings and paint away. This quick easy Halloween costume goes faster when your youngster participates in the painting, which he'll want to do!

Halloween is one of the most amazing holidays of the year! Much like Christmas and Easter, it has its own seasons of thrills and chills in itself. Doubters be damned, Halloween has singe-handedly resurrected fear from the pits of our subconscious and made it both into a commodity and an art form. In what other season do you see so many people lining up to see their favorite slasher flicks in droves, so many teenagers playing Silent Hill and Fatal Frame on their gaming consoles, and so many kids donning the freakiest costumes known to man in order to go out Trick or Treating? Truly Halloween is a cultural phenomenon unlike any other.

And one of the things that are not to be missed on that momentous occasion would be the immortal Halloween party. With the most ghoulish of games, the most devilish fun and the most wickedly sick costumes around, a Halloween party is one of the events where being freaky is the norm and desired behavior. And when you want you Halloween party to be the biggest party of the year, you'll definitely need people to fill up the venue. And how do you get these people to come in droves? With amazing invitations of course!

Creating the perfect Halloween invitations is actually much easier than you think. What you have to keep in mind though is that apart from being scary, the perfect Halloween invitation is always eye catching. So be sure to use strong and oh so scary colors such as black, red and orange. The customary ghost, vampire, werewolf, skeleton and witch would be a welcome addition as well.

You could also make your invitations a little better by using realistic touches like applying glue to look like cobwebs and splashing red paint to look like bloodstains. Or you can make it a whole lot more worthy of attention by making it a pop-out card, with your most ghoulish creation jumping out on your guest like a jack-in-the-box when they open it. This however requires a little more work, but the rewards for going this route can be spectacular.

The invitation however is only one of the many things you need to complete the ultimate Halloween themed party. Toddler Curious George Halloween Costume (2T)

Costume is sold as BRAND NEW and it comes in its orginal packaging.Place your order TODAY and it will ship out within 1 business day!

Obtaining adult Halloween costumes is ofttimes tough and time consuming, but can be easier than ever because most of the popular costumes are in stock for you if you buy early. There are conventional costumes that people will buy every year from Alice in Dreamland to the Queen of Hearts, but many people wish to get the trendy and freshest costume so they can show off their new look to all of their friends.

They commonly consist of characters from the latest flick or television shows of this season. You will not normally make a mistake if you try to be like your favorite action star.

With several hit flicks this year like Batman, The Mummy 3, The Incredible Hulk 2 and so on, getting a stylish costume can be a fun time and experience. While most of your friends will want to be the principal characters from the movies you can proudly jump out by appearing as a secondary but more memorable character.

Certainly you will see plenty of people dressed up like Batman but the real star from the movie was Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, so that will in all probability be the more hot and significant of Halloween costumes this season.

Just don't forget that when deciding on the right Halloween costume for you, always think about safety first, for example wearing flame-retardant fabrics--and masks that do not block your eyes too much.

As well, you should make sure that while out trick-or-treating with youngsters you carry some type of reflective garments and use a lantern to be readily seen by passing cars.

If it is chilly out ensure that your Halloween costume is big enough to fit having layers of clothing beneath, and if it is hot outside your adult Halloween costume can't be so thick and bulky as to cause miserable overheating for you.

OK, I rarely foray into the controversial territory when it comes to my writing, but I cannot resist it this time. I live in the city core of Toronto , so this whole big box store thing has not affected my life terribly much. This idealogy tends to belong to the suburbs. Dont get me wrong, I occasionally find myself in a Walmart or Ikea. They are terribly attractive in many ways. Good prices, large selection and a good return policy. As a Mom, these are all features I find appealing. Whats not so fun you may ask? The crowds in the aisles, the long line-ups at the cash, and the lack of customer service.

I am an independent costume shop. I reside in Toronto, employ local people, and buy from Canadian companies and distributors. As well, I offer my products and services all year long. So this is where my rant begins. The big box stores undercut us small guys at Halloween by selling the same products and accessories that we carry. They do this because they are able to buy direct from the manufacturers in large volumes. But, there are some very big differences that you also need to know before making your buying decisions.

This is where my confession begins. If your buying principles are based solely on price, then by all means, shop at your local big box store. WE CANNOT COMPETE ON PRICE. And please dont ask us to.

If, however, you have a different shopping philosophy than that, such as, you want to support local businesses and the local economy, or you prefer to shop Canadian or you want to bring your business somewhere that offers customer service, then we independents are for you.

Here is my list of why we are the better way:

Shopping locally enhances our way of life. Small stores are part of a community feeling, something that breathes life into the environment. It makes our communities cleaner, safer and more beautiful.

When you shop at an independent, you support local businesses. I dont think I have to tell you that many of these big box stores are not Canadian owned. In fact, many of the dollars that they generate go south of the border into some pretty deep pockets.

The big box stores are not socially conscience. Money is the major motivator. Independents base their buying decisions on what is best for the community and how to contribute to their community. As well, we listen to the needs of our customers and adjust to meet their needs

The independents are neater. I mean, maybe this seems like a silly thing to say, but try to find the costume you want at Halloween when all of the shelves are a disaster, and everything has been picked over. Chaos.

Customer service. Aside from social conscience, independents offer better customer service, no ifs, ands or buts. You can find an actual person to serve you, often times the owner. It's it nice to actually talk to someone about your needs? We answer the phone, we call you back. We offer our expertise to you because we actually have training in this business. We see if we can get you that costume you have been looking all over town for, or well refer you to someone we think will have it. Well assist you in your shopping needs. Well communicate with you. And well be honest.

As well, well offer things that the big boxes cant possibly. Well rent costumes. Well do custom work. Well special order. Once the big boxes are out of stock, thats it.

I feel better already. I am going to shop locally too, because we independents practice what we preach.

Marquees are for every occasion

Whether it's for a wedding, a party, a gathering, or a family occasion, marquees are a beautiful and extravagant way to celebrate in style and bring people together in a lovely setting.

How to choose the right marquee?

With all the options how are you suppose to choose the right marquee for you and your occasion?

First of all different marquees are better suited for different occasions. For example you'll probably want a more flamboyant marquee for a wedding than you would for a children's 5 year old birthday! Look at photographs of the marquees available so you can really get a feel for how the marquee will look.

Go and visit the marquee companies in person

If you are looking at companies online or are chatting to them over the phone it is a good idea to go and visit them so you can really get across your ideas for your occasion and what it is you are expecting. There are many marquee hiring companies across the UK including South Yorkshire, Sheffield, Yorkshire, Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Doncaster, North Yorkshire, and Manchester where you can go and visit them.

In person you can also discuss what furniture you'd like to hire for the marquee as well, as certain furniture will fit and suit other marquees better than others. Keeping it all consistent with the same design and furniture style will ensure the marquee looking fabulous.

Read testimonials and other customers feedback

The best way to get an idea of a marquee company is to read their customer testimonials many people today have these available on their website, or you can ask the sales person directly for them. If you know someone who has already used a marquee company in your area or county such as Yorkshire, Lancashire for example, you can go to them with a little more confidence knowing they have already delivered a good service.
