Christmas is celebrated around the world. While every family or community has their own traditions, there are certain regional traditions that are very specific and vary widely from region to region.

In Italy, from Rome south the traditional Christmas Eve dinner is that of seven fish. Throughout Italy, the Christmas Eve meals are traditionally meatless, given that the day is a day of abstinences in the Catholic Church. Another wonderful Italian culinary Christmas tradition is that of the Milanese Panattone. A sweet bread loaded with raisins, candied fruits and nuts. It is perfect for breakfast and makes incredible French toast.

Just north of Italy is Germany, where there is a rich tradition of the outdoor Christmas Markets. Despite the cold temperatures German families head outside to shop for classic Christmas goodies and to enjoy regional specific Christmas goodies. This tradition dates back to the 14th Century. The markets open during the end of November and stay open until right before Christmas Eve,

Another German tradition is that of Gluehwein and Stollen. Spiced Wine and the traditional German Christmas cake, loaded with raisins and nuts and covered in a sugar glaze are a time honored Christmas treat in German homes.

In Greece, Christmas is celebrated on December 25, unlike the celebration of Easter, which follows the Orthodox calendar. While Christmas in Greece is very important, it is a much more solemn holiday than in the West and therefore there are less gaudy decorations and more focus on the religious nature of the holiday.

In England the tradition of Wassailing dates back to the middle ages. Wassil, a heady mix of honey, ale and spices, is best shared among a group. Severed in a bowl or huge pewter or wooden mug, it would be passed around the group as a greeting. Traditionally the bowl would be carried from house to house celebrate and share a holiday greeting.

In England, Boxing Day is the day following Christmas. Traditionally and historically a day set aside for the poor, it is now a national holiday in England. In the 18th century and forward, the Lord and Lady of the manor would "box" up their leftovers and small gifts to provide to the servants of the manor house and tenants on their land. Since many of the household servants and other poorly paid workers would be required to work on Christmas Day, Boxing Day was the day they would go to visit their family.

In England during the 21st century, Boxing Day is a day to visit family, a day to offer small tokens to tradesmen, such as the milkman or postman. Families often gather to play board games and share a meal, enjoy a walk in the countryside or indulge in a break with tradition and go shopping, checking out the New Year sales early.

In Mexico the celebration of Christmas begins on December 16th with the nine days of Las Posadas. Las Posadas is a nine-day celebration, which includes candle lit processions and lively parties. Another wonderful Christmas tradition is the Shepard's plays. Professional groups and armatures put on these reenactments of the Christmas stories alike.

In Mexican houses, the principal Christmas decoration is the Nativity Scene. It is often built by hand and assembled over the course of the season.

In Brazil, the tradition of Las Pasadas is also widely practices, only in the Brazilian version of the plays, it is a shepherdess who is following the star and a gypsy woman who has designs on stealing the figure of the Christ child fro the nativity scene.

Brazil has a very multicultural history and many of their traditions vary widely by region, based upon immigration patterns. The same is to be said for Australia. It is also important to not that in both of these multicultural countries that it is summer, so many families celebrate Christmas by dining outdoors and enjoying the abundant sunshine and warm temperatures.

In India, even though Christians are a minority group, Christmas is still celebrated and is a good mix of British traditions from the colonial period and rich regional additions. In some areas banana trees and mango trees are decorated with lights. Greetings are shared with neighbors and parties are hosted. In urban areas, hotels and nightclub host office and families parties. Santa Klaus pays a visit to good boys and girls.

In Japan, less than 1% of the population is Christian, but Christmas is celebrated nonetheless. For Christians the holiday is less about exchanging gifts with family members and more about sharing good cheer with the poor and especially those who are in the hospital. Many businesses and private homes decorate with evergreens and bows.

No matter how the holiday is celebrated, Christmas is about love and compassion & food and family. The greatest gifts of the season are togetherness and love, no matter the language or the food.

A career as a Physician Assistant (PA) requires one to enjoy working with and helping patients, have the ability to act quickly and calmly in an emergent situation, and have an appreciation for the study of medicine.

Physician Assistants practice medicine under the direct supervision of physicians and surgeons, and are considered and extension of the physician. The role of the Physician Assistant is to perform routine tasks and relieve the physician of these duties.

PAs are formally trained to diagnose, treat, and provide preventative health care services, as delegated by a supervising physician. They also treat minor injuries and suture lacerations, splint or cast injured limbs, fingers, and toes. PAs record medical record documentation, instruct and council patients, and write prescriptions as permitted by law. Many PAs take on administrative duties as well and supervise other practice staff, order supplies, and generally oversee the daily activities of the clinical portion of the practice.

Many Physician Assistants work in primary care offices, such as pediatrics, family medicine, and internal medicine. PAs may also work in specialty practices in surgery, emergency medicine, urgent care, orthopedics, and geriatrics. Hospitals, outpatient clinics, health insurance companies, schools, and the government also employ Physician Assistants.

Physician Assistant education programs are two years and many PA programs have clinical teaching affiliations with medical schools. To qualify for admission to a PA program, some college and healthcare experience is required. Typical PA students have a bachelors degree and approximately four years of experience in a healthcare career, commonly nursing, EMT, or paramedic. PAs receive hands-on clinical training and usually rotate through several areas of specialized medicine, including geriatrics, pediatrics, gynecology, and psychiatry.

Physician Assistants are required to pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination, administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is open only to graduates of accredited PA schools. PAs must log 100 hours of continuing education every two years and sit for a recertification exam every six years.

A physician assistant career can be highly profitable. Learn what it takes to get into physician assistant schools from http://www.careertoolkits.com

Adult's Candy Worker Halloween Costume (One Size)

A great deal of psychological study has been placed in the realm of figuring out what it is about board games which makes us, as people, so devoted and loving of the activity. What exactly is it about the brain that makes it so attached to the activity of competing against each other to solve a problem and win the game? A great deal of it relates to the way that we, as humans, have grown over time and both the value that we place on certain ideals and the deficiencies that we try to make up for in our daily lives. Board games offer us a chance to fulfill many of these needs and because of this, they have maintained a place in our culture for quite some time.

The types of challenges presented from board games come in the form of activities, challenges, and puzzles that we feel that we are qualified to handle. It is a challenge which requires some skill, but they are skills that we feel that we are qualified to operate. Playing a game against a well-matched opponent will provide us the greatest amount of pleasure for it will challenge us and our skills. Playing against someone much better than us would ultimately make us feel inferior, which is against the goal of playing the game; playing against someone not as good as us would ultimately bore us for the game would offer no challenge.

When the game is good enough, it will focus our attention entirely on the task at hand. If we are doing something which is interesting enough to entirely captivate us, we often will slip into a state where we enjoy what we are doing and time will fly past us. This offers us a sort of "escape" from the troubles of everyday life. This state usually will come about much more easily when the goals of the game are clearly defined. If we know what we are working toward, we can figure out what needs to be done much more easily. This helps us in achieving that state of satisfaction.

Learning how to play the game well enough to determine our progress is another important level in determining out satisfaction in playing the game. If we know enough about the game to determine that we are doing well within it, we will be much more happy than if we are lost or confused and not sure of if we are winning or far behind.

The level of control that a board game can provide will often fulfill some of our deepest needs and desires. It allows us to take fate within out hands, within a certain, controlled environment, and allow us to pursue our goals in a way that will have no lasting effects on our lives. It gives us a chance for escapism, where we can enter into a situation and pretend that we are anyone or anything. It gives us a sense of fantasy, allowing us to fulfill our needs for a thrill while staying within the comfort and safety of our own homes. Board games can be a great way for us to feel content with ourselves and the world around us and playing one can be a great way to give ourselves a boost of esteem.

Sexy 3Pc French Maid Outfit Halloween Costume

*3Pc. French Maid Outfit W/ Attatch Sleeves And Feather Dust SMALL BLACK/WHITE

Ann Vertel wrote a blog post that essentially said if you look at kids that trick or treat, they don't get all worked up about which houses don't have their lights on. The direct sales correlation is that we as direct selling consultants shouldn't get worked up over the people that don't want to participate in or business - either by booking buying or recruiting. In essence, they've "turned off their house lights" and we shouldn't take it personally - just move on to the next house and collect our goodies elsewhere.

But as I thought more about the correlation to Halloween, there's even more you can take away from this holiday and incorporate into your network marketing business:

1. Those parents at the curb.

On your first Halloween, a trusted adult probably walked the whole neighborhood with you, holding your hand, walking you right up to the door and showing you exactly how to say the magic words that opened the door to candy paradise. As we mature in our business and "get better at trick or treating", these parents and adults stand at the curb, so we don't look "uncool".

You've either been one or had one - a leader that guides you down the path, watches your actions, and helps you be the best you can be. On your first few attempts at working your business, they might have even held your hand and walked you straight up to the door - even did the knocking for you. They're not doing the work for us. But they've got their watchful eye on us, helping us along the path to the next door, giving us tips on how to make the next house even better than the last. Don't be ungrateful, but don't expect them to do the work for you. If you want the goodies - you've got to get the training (from your leaders) - then you've got to say the words to get them!

2. Those "Candy Grabbers"

Every Halloween has it's share of killjoys that run around the 'hood snatching the bags of little kids. Those bullies get their kicks takin' candy from babies and making mischief on Hallow's Eve. Do the other kids stop going from house to house? Naah. Do the homeowners stop passing out the goodies? Of course not!

Whether we want to admit it or not, there's a crowd of people in direct sales that gives the industry a bad name - but it doesn't mean that everyone is going to give up and go home. On the contrary. I know for myself that when I was confronted with a bully on Halloween night, I just went back and tried double hard to recover my losses. Now that I'm older and wiser, I know there are plenty more neighborhood to visit when searching for direct sales gold.

3. Sorting the Goodies from the Maple Buns

Oh how I hated the Maple Bun as a kid. We'd trade those things away as fast as we got them - if we could. We took notes each year about which houses had the best candy, and which ones weren't worth the trek up the long driveway for the tiny little maple bun they'd drop in your bag with a toothy grin. Mom would, of course, check out each wrapper to ensure safety and collect her obligatory fee for so doing.

As network marketers, we have to do our own sorting. Some "goodies" will be great additions to our team, and others will start out looking good, but you'll find the wrapper's not all there. And of course, you'll end up with a Maple Bun or two, but realize that the better you get at identifying the King Size candy from the Maple Buns, the easier the sorting becomes. The only way to get good is to keep practicing.

So this festive holiday, as you're standing at the curb with the little tykes, perhaps do some trick or treating of your own. I frequently pass out free samples to the moms as we're trekking the 'hood together. It allows us to strike up conversations while we shiver in the cold with our little trolls, princesses, and ninjas. Do they all book a party or join my team? Nope. And we all just keep moving on to the next house.

Lady of the Palace Child Costume

The Renaissance Faire? Lady of the Palace costume includes a burgundy velvet full-length dress with bell sleeves and brocade trim on the collar.

When one thinks of the state of Illinois one of the first cities they will most likely think of is Chicago. However, when someone thinks of the state of Illinois, the odds are pretty good that they aren't going to first visualize many villages within the state. Big cities and big businesses are the first thing that most people are first to associate with the state of Illinois. However, there are still a few villages out there in Illinois.

The village of Monee, Illinois is one of those villages. As of the year 2000 census there were only approximately 3,000 residents in the village. Monee, Illinois is located approximately 40 miles south of Chicago. Despite being located so far from downtown Chicago and only having a small amount of residents, Monee healthcare is some of the best around.

If you are looking for fun things to do in Monee, look no further than the golf course. Monee's golf course covers thirty four acres and is open from April through October. If you are visiting Monee in the fall season, be sure to check out their Fall Faire. This Faire has been operating since 1995 and is a three day event. All of the organizations in and around the area participate in this fun event. There are plenty of activities including food, games, crafts and more. Also held in conjunction with the Fall Faire is the community garage sale in which anyone can participate. The garage sale itself is so large that they will even provide you with a map of all of the sales. You could also visit the Monee hospital if you start to feel queasy from all the food you might consume. The Halloween party is also a great place for entertainment. This party takes place in the middle of the village with food, games and prizes for kids of all ages. The party also includes a haunted house and the annual Halloween bonfire.

Also located in the middle of the village there is a park that has recently been upgraded. The park now includes a tennis and basketball court as well as a large baseball field. The park also has a football field which will eventually be able to convert to a soccer field as well. Located throughout all parts of the village are tot lots where the younger children can have a place to play.

Although Monee may not be the biggest city in Illinois, it sure is a place that provides a great sense of community. Whether you are a long time resident or merely in the village for the Monee, Illinois hospital, there is always something happening in a community that will welcome you with open arms. Monee is a wonderful place to raise a family with most of the events centered around children.

If you are looking for more information on Monee healthcare or a Monee hospital, be sure to visit Riverside Medical Center today. Riverside Medical Center can provide you with all the information you need to know about their Monee Illinois hospital.

Women's Race Car Driver Costume

Baby, you can drive my car... This three piece costume includes the cropped jacket, pants and belt. Available in Black/Green, sizes small, medium and large.

An American businessman named Max Eckardt introduced Christmas tree decorations imported from Germany to the US around 1907. The ornaments consisted mostly of small hand-blown glass balls that were colorfully decorated. Late in the 1930s though, it was plain to Eckardt that the oncoming war was going to disrupt his supplies. So he made a business arrangement with the Corning Glass Company that got them started on Christmas ornament production in their light bulb plants. Corning started making the glass ornaments after adapting their own light bulb manufacturing process and proceeded to ship ornaments to both Woolworth's stores and to Eckardt's factories where the plain ornaments could be further adorned by hand after being machine-lacquered.

As the wartime shortages increased, making both lacquer and silver difficult to come by, Eckardt started having the ornaments decorated in pastels and bright colors. As a result, Shiny Brite ornaments became very popular because of their uniqueness and soon become a staple of every family's Christmas trees. By the end of the war, Shiny Brite was the largest manufacturer of Christmas ornaments in the world and the popularity of the ornaments raged on into the 1950s.

Shiny Brite stopped making and selling the glass balls in 1962 because of production disruption and because of the changing business landscape and moved into the production of plastic ornaments, which never proved to be as popular. But now that we are in the 21st century, demand for the original vintage glass ornaments has shot up and you'll find many "Shiny Brite" ornaments all over Ebay.

One thing to keep in mind though when shopping on Ebay for these ornaments is that many sellers and buyers seem to think that "Shiny Brite" refers to a type of ornament rather than a specific brand name. So if you are looking specifically for ornaments made by Max Eckardt's company, you might want to do a little digging into the auctions.

In addition to the vintage Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments available at antique shops, flea markets and online, Christopher Radko started making reproductions of the ornaments around 2001 and you'll find those on Ebay as well. Generally though you don't have to worry about the Radko reproductions being passed off as the vintage ornaments because Radko's ornaments are collectible in their own right. Also, Radko's ornaments are made in Europe and all of the original Shiny Brite's were of American manufacture.

If you love to collect vintage ornaments, you can find great buys on the original vintage Shiny Brite ornaments as well as the wonderful collectible Christopher Radko ornaments.

Emma Martin loves vintage collectibles, especially Halloween and Christmas decorations. You can visit her website at: http://www.retroholiday.com/

Customer Review: Superman costume
Superman(TM) Child Costume The Batman(TM) Child Costume These were an absolute hit with both boys. They wear them every day because that's what Super Hero's do. The quality was great, the delivery time was excellent. I highly recommend the costumes and the seller. Melody Atwood Lansing, MI

Throughout the history of television, Superman has long since proven to be a repeatedly successful franchise. In the 1990's, when LOIS AND CLARK debuted on network television, many critics assumed it would be short lived. The critics erred as this program turned out to be very successful both in viewers and quality. So, it is no surprise that Superman would be tapped again for a television series. Well, actually, it would be "Superboy" who would be tapped as a new series dubbed SMALLVILLE centered on the life of Clark Kent as a teenager in a Middle American town.

Superboy

The "Superboy" concept was a major departure from most Superman programs and it was considered somewhat of a risk. (There was a Superboy pilot shot in the 1950's but it never aired and the series was scrapped) Then again, the popularity of superheroes in the movies opened the door for more creative ventures and SMALLVILLE was launched. And, yes, it was an excellent program and there are many excellent SMALLVILLE episodes.

Smallville

The focus of the program centered on a young Clark Kent's slow discovery of who he is and what his place in the world may be. This created a very strong emotional link with many member of the viewing audience. After all, everyone struggles with their own identity when they are teenagers. These struggles can be additionally complex when the teenager is different from his peers. No, there are no teenagers that have to struggle with being an alien from a distant, destroyed world. (Well, none that we know of!) But, this struggle that a young Clark Kent must face is symbolic of all struggles many teenagers go through. It is this emotional chord visible through the entire SMALLVILLE episode guide that makes it so popular. Now do you realize why SMALLVILLE DVD sales are so strong?

Smallville Seasons

This theme is most evident in SMALLVILLE SEASON 7 where Clark must use what he has learned in his (brief) life experiences to help his cousin Kara. Kara, having also been born on Krypton, is dealing with the same dilemma that Clark had dealt with. That is, how does she fit in as a stranger in a strange land? Unfortunately, she is unable to and her bizarre and erratic behavior encompasses much of SMALLVILLE SEASON 7.

In a way, this flawed relationship between Clark and Kara is symbolic of the paths people take in life based on the decisions they make when they are young. Kara's choices are wrong and nothing Clark says or does can dissuade her. That is just the way life works out sometimes.

Interrelationships between Smallville Characters

Therein lay the success of SMALLVILLE. The program is not so much about superheroes as it is about the interrelationship between characters. Yes, there are a number of heroes and villains who make appearances throughout the program. Yes, there are a number of action sequences and over the top plotlines that comprise the series. In the end, however, the success of the program centers on how it humanizes its characters and provides them with sense of depth not seen in hero programming before.

In a way, these superheroes are very real people underneath. That is the aspect of the program that makes it so compelling. Programs of such quality are rare. That is why this incarnation of Superboy where the 1950's version was immediately forgotten.

This is an article written by one of our Smallville fans of the Smallville Gemzies. This Gemzies page is an Online Smallville Community where fellow experts can share, rate and find websites, videos photos, books and news. We have got some interesting content on to the sexy Lana Lang, Clark Kent and other cast members. We invite you to visit and join our Smallville Gemzies.
