Halloween is big business, and it begins long before pumpkins are carved and houses are decorated in October. Costume and decorating manufacturers such as Disguise and Rubies launch their new products well in advance of the season. Costume retailers must place their Halloween orders in the New Year, and therefore the suppliers have to know what is going to be a hit.

They look to the movie industry to see where trends are going and create costumes and accessories that fit the bill. Movie releases from 2007 will have a huge influence on costume trends for this year. Pirates will undoubtedly be the largest costume trend for the season. With the release of Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End this May, the 3rd instalment of the franchise, eye masks, swords and tri-corn hats will be in huge demand by retailers.

Other franchise instalments include Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Spiderman 3. Wizards and superheroes are always popular costumes, but the spring/summer releases of these movies it top of the mind for Halloween.

Another popular trend in dress-up and movies are zombies and the undead. There has been resurgence from the 70s genre zombie horror movie and in 2007 we see zombie movie sequels including 28 Weeks Later, Day of the Dead and Resident Evil. Horror makeup, prosthetics and fake blood will be in high demand by retailers and consumers.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or TMNT is being released in March while a contemporary Nancy Drew will be out by the summer. Rob Zombies Halloween, promises not to be a remake or a sequel and will introduce Mike Myers to a whole new audience.

The movies of 2007 will inspire the costume choices of its fans and lead the trends of this Halloween season.

Baptism invitations are necessary so that all your closest comrades can attend the most beautiful part of the Christian life. Every Christian should get baptized in a lake or a river. While it's not necessary to be granted life in the New Kingdom of God, it certainly takes the cake as far as certifying your Christian life to others. You see, the Christian life is no piece of cake. Lots of people need confirmation from friends, brothers, and parents to succeed in the Christian life. The Christian life is not about rules and dogma, but it's about love, tolerance, and forgiveness for all mankind, no one excluded.

Baptism invitations need to be mailed after the location, pastor, and circumstances are chosen for the event.

Several studies in baptism yield interesting tidbits of information that baptism students can learn from.

There is a pre-Christian baptism, the baptism of John, the Christian baptism, and the symbolic use of baptism. In Judaic tradition, baptism was done through the water, vis-a-vis immersion, for ritual and ceremonial cleansing, and initiation into the religious group or family. John the Baptist had a different form of baptism that was for the sin forgiveness, Messiah announcements, and the coming Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. That system was Jewish people who really repented, and it worked under the Mosaic sacrificial set-up system for the forgiveness of sins. It had to do with righteousness and God's purposes on earth for all of his children in the Christian family.

So, as you can see, baptism invitations are an absolute must because it's important to collect together every Christian family member in your immediate area and your friends and family so that you can build upon each other in the Christian faith.

There are several reasons why it's important to send out beautifully illustrated invitations with religious imagery and symbols galore. It inspires those in the Christian community that aren't yet initiated into baptism, and it encourages them to walk right in the Christian light toward peace and freedom in the light of Jesus Christ. Without baptism invitations, none of that could ever occur, not one little bit. No one would know about your fantastic event and baptism ceremony.

Baptism is something you'll remember for the rest of your life and if the invitations aren't sent out then no one will know anything about your event.

What would you say if someone told you that alcoholism has its roots in sugar addiction? Problems with overconsumption of alcohol often begin with eating habits as children. Since all alcoholic drinks contain sugar, it is a wonder that this association is often overlooked. A 12-ounce beer has about 13 grams of carbohydrates in it. So if you have five beers over the course of one evening, thats 65 grams of carbohydrates in four to five hours (or less, depending on how fast you drink).

If you believe this line of thinking to be faulty, it is imperative to see the film SuperSize Me. In documentary style, this movie shows what happens when one person goes on a binge for 30 days and eats nothing but McDonalds food. You may be wondering about the connection between alcohol and McDonalds (aka sugar and chemical overload). Keep reading. The man in the film is monitored by three different doctors during his journey into destroying his body. Although the example put forth in the film is an extreme one, it shows why this diet or anything like it is a poor one to undertake. During day 22 of the experiment, his doctors conduct blood tests on his liver to determine the extent of the damage. The results are unbelievable. His liver is in the same condition as someone who had been on a long alcoholic binge: thus firmly establishing the sugar-alcohol connection. McDonalds foods are highly processed, full of chemicals, and most importantly, wrought with simple carbohydrates which are the same thing as sugar. Alcohol in all forms also containsyou guessed it, sugar.

Studies have shown that people who display unhealthy eating habits and abuse sugar have similarities to those who are so-called alcoholics. Many people who become alcoholics in their adult years regularly kept unhealthy diets as children and adolescents. The pattern is a predictable one that is often also underpinned by unstable emotional environments. When a child is allowed to consume refined sugar foods that regularly replace nutritious foods, this sets up the perfect beginning to a life of poor choices for health.

Children are easily made to believe by their parents and other authority figures that various foods regularly eaten by the whole of society are actually good for them and contain substantive nutrition. Although sugar is not technically in the same category as alcohol or drugs, food with refined sugars and processed flour as well as candies and desserts represent the initial stepping stone to sugar consumption that can plateau out as alcohol abuse in adolescents and adults. On a fundamental level, all are addictive substances because they each contain one key ingredient - carbohydrates or simple sugars. When sugar is introduced into the body, a reaction occurs where the blood sugar achieves a high point causing the body to go into hyperactivity mode. This process often leads to the mistaken diagnosis of ADD or ADHD. Drugs such as Ritalin are often prescribed to level out the chemicals in the childs brain that are considred abnormal. What is not addressed are the large amounts of refined sugars consumed by these same children, as well as lack of adequate physical activity and supportive emotional relationships with famliy members. Children who consume large amounts of refined sugar in their diets are much more likely to go on and become drug or alcohol abusers later in life - especially when these other conditions are present.

Heres something interesting: the food pyramid tells us that we should eat 6 to 11 servings of whole grains each day. But the vast majority of whole grain choices in our food environments are far from whole grains. On a continual basis, we are lied to on labels about what is contained in many foods we buy in the store. Simply taking the time to read the list of ingredients will immediately reveal that a good majority of these foods are not whole grain, have been enriched, are not a natural source of vitamins or nutrients, and contain added sugars and other chemicals that are dangerous to consume. Even if we did consume all whole grains in those servings, which would be difficult at best, we would be consuming far too many carbohydrates for our own good compared to other important nutrient, mineral, and vitamin-containing foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds, and healthy proteins like antibiotic and hormone free meats and raw dairy products (in moderation, of course). And that doesnt even include all the junk-related and refined sugar foods we consume on a daily basis, nor sugary beverages (alcoholic beverages included).

The body requires proper nutrition and support to function on an optimal level. Most of what people put in their mouths does not support the complex system that is the human body. When a person is working at a stressful job and does not have time to prepare wholesome, nutritious meals, a decline in health is inevitable. Many people believe that what they are eating is healthy when it isnt because consumers have been repeatedly lied to and mislead about nutrition. Corporations have in their best interest to sell what tastes good to consumers, not what is nutritious. Even though there is a wealth of information available about sugar and alcohol consumption, people tend to overindulge since food and drink containing sugar is so prevalent and easy to come by.

Everywhere we look there are more temptations to purchase and eat the things that we shouldnt, and not nearly enough emphasis on organic, whole, healthy foods. When you go to a restaurant or bar and order a drink, how often do you stop at just one? How often do you have two, three, four, or five? When you go to a restaurant to eat, think about how many items on your plate are full of refined carbohydrates versus a whole, natural food. When the server comes to take your plates at the end of a meal, how many times are you offered dessert as an ending to your visit? Almost every time.

Anxiety and depression, the two basic human emotional disturbances, are perpetuated by unhealthy lifestyles such as lack of activity, overloads of stress, improper rest, and you guessed it eating poorly. When people encounter stress, their bodies respond by telling them they need more support - sleep, exercise, healthy food and whole food supplements, plenty of purified water, and adequate stress relief. The average American lifestyle fails to include the right combination of these important components. For stress relief and boredom, many people turn to eating refined sugar foods and beverages, drinking, and drug use. Unhealthy snacks and foods are so convenient and readily available, people have a tendency to load up on those kinds of foods rather than taking time to prepare a healthy meal or snack instead. The more we consume these kinds of foods, the more we crave them.

When you visit the grocery store, notice which foods are the most visible and prevalent on the aisles. Just pick up a box or a can of any food and read the ingredients. If you cannot make heads or tails of what they are, why should you be eating or drinking it? Any food or drink product that contains more than three or four ingredients should automatically be a red flag to any consumer. When we consume such massive amounts of sugar, run ourselves into the ground with stress and busy schedules, fail to get adequate exercise and rest, its no wonder our bodies fail. Patients would rather end up at the doctor asking for medication to deal with symptoms they experience as a result of the abuse their bodies are receiving than commit to making a real, healthy lifestyle change.

1. There seems to be a lot of discussion on color and fabric. The most accurate statement on this issue that I can make was there was a great variety of colors and fabrics.

2. I personally believe that much of the renowned butternut look was due to unstable dyes that faded quickly.

3. Many of the items that may have been gray quickly turned to shades of ranging from light tan through a brownish green. Some reenactors love the butternut look and that is perfectly ok, but I wouldnt overdo it.

4. I try to include some gray in my uniform whether it is hat, jacket or pants. I feel like the all gray look or mostly gray look gives a better appearance than the all butternut look.

5. I recommend staying with a gray jacket and kepi. Add butternut pants. I feel kepis and jackets look better in gray. This is just my personal preference from the research I have done. There is no hard and fast rule about this.

6. For example, if you want to have a butternut jacket, I personally feel that a gray hat or pants goes well because it blends in better with the other reenactors in the line.

7. If you look through Troianis prints, which are closely, researched most of the men were in gray with some butternut items here and there.

8. This is one area where original photos do not do you much good since they are in black and white. Uniforms in museums are your best source. Troianis prints are reliable since he is considered to be one of the foremost experts in Civil War Uniforms.

9. In his paintings, the vast majority of soldiers were in gray. They tried to have gray uniforms as best they could. The color of the Confederate army was gray and they tried to achieve that look whenever possible.

10. But the shortage of dye and the instability of the dye was always a problem in keeping all uniforms gray. Natural dyes like sumac and walnut were relied on to some extent. Sumac for example starts out mostly gray and quickly turns to tan or brown like the hat shown above.

Since Halloween is one of the most celebrated festivals of the season, it is no wonder that people really go the extra mile to make the most out of it through parties, creepy decorations, and of course, scary costumes. With barely a week to go before Halloween, party-deprived individuals and party animals alike must be raving about the many costume events leading up to October 31. Which costume to wear ---sexy, Hollywood inspired, etc---is another factor that compounds people's Halloween jitters.

Don't let the costume situation get to you. There are many costume ideas to choose from if you really want to be the talk of the town during this season of fright. You can let the true you come out by dressing up as a fictional character, sexy vixen, or a Hollywood pop princess. But then again, if you really want to stay true to the spirit of Halloween, you can never go wrong with scary creatures.

Scary creatures never get out of style during Halloween. No matter how many new concepts and Halloween costume ideas come out, they often turn out to be just a phase that would soon be overshadowed by scary creatures for Halloween. These Halloween strange creatures are just like your favorite pair of jeans---they never run out of style.

Scary creatures for Halloween enthusiasts are always in. If you want to really look the part, scary creatures for Halloween range from the paranormal to the creepiest and most nightmarish. Here are just some of the top scary creatures that you could use as inspiration for your costume.

Doppelgangers

Doppelgangers are ghostly and evil creatures that can shapeshift into an image of a living person. The word "doppelgnger" is of German origin which literally means "double goer". It is a word that often describes the phenomenon whereby someone catches a glimpse of his own image out of the corner of his eyes. In some traditions, it is considered as an omen or an apparition of an unfortunate event that's bound to happen.

Gargoyles

Often depicted as scary creatures with wings and demonic features, gargoyles are entities that are believed to protect buildings from evil spirits.

Manticores

Manticores are feared man-eating creatures that have a body of a lion, a tail of poisonous spines, and according to some sightings, a face that resembles a human's. With its tail of spines, and triple rows of teeth, a manticore is a stealth killer that can swallow its victims whole without leaving any trace.

Nagas and Naginis

These are serpent-like creatures that resemble human from the waist up, and snakes from the waist down. The males are known as Nagas while females are known as Naginis. They are limbless and often depicted as cobra-like in movement.

Wendigo

Wendigo, "the spirit of lonely places" is a cannibalistic spirit that can possess humans. Wendigos are thought to possess evil men. It is said that one can turn into a Wendigo through indulging in cannibalism. It is depicted as a tall thin creature that resembles a human being. It is also portrayed as someone twisted, fanged and bloodstained.

Scary creatures for Halloween are a great costume idea. Dressing up as one of these nightmarish creatures would not only pronounce the spirit of Halloween, but would also earn you some screams of fright, awe and gratification this thriller season.

Life has become very easy and comfortable with internet. Internet has added to the comforts of our life, sitting in our premises we can pay our bills, do shopping even organize a wedding. While organizing a wedding or a party your search for caterers starts.

Finding a catering service is easy but finding the best caterers can necessitate some of your energies. Before searching online for catering services please nail down the date and event venue with menu in mind which can be altered with the new suggestions of the food caterers.

Internet is a great source of food and beverage services and you can find a caterer through a company by using a major search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN. Suggestions should be welcome from your family and friends. Also try to recall the online catered parties you attending and what advice they had about their catering services?

If anyone known had hired a good catering service you can take the URL of their choice catering service and book them if they appeal you.

Otherwise start your search for caterers. Catering is one service where you are likely to prefer a local supplier beside for some corporate parties, which might go for specialized and reputed catering organizations headquartered elsewhere.

To begin with your caterer search you should first try searching in catering directories, which serve as a storehouse of various catering service providers with categories to precise your search. If catering directories does not prove to be helpful then use the major search engines for your nearest and best catering service.

Take a tour of the catering web sites and check for the various catering services offered by them.
Also look at the caterer's portfolio of color photographs and their presentation, whether the food is presented beautifully and appears delicious? Presentation holds equal importance to the taste of the food, so make sure the food caterers are expert in food presentation also.

Before you hire a caterer service make sure they are licensed and properly insured and bonded. Clarify the dress code for servers and staff and any question if you have in mind regarding the organization of the event with the catering service's chief.

Leg Avenue 3 Piece Diner Betty Costume

Halloween is a time to stock up on treats and to make other necessary arrangements such as finding a suitable costume and seeking out new types of pumpkin-orientated meals to try. But home insurance? Should that really be top of your agenda? Some financial experts are saying so.

Fairinvestment.co.uk has stated today that home insurance claims increase by 150% during Halloween in the UK alone. It seems that classic tricks of yesteryear may have been replaced by pranks that cost, and subsequently cause homeowners to claim.

Across the pond however, the link between Halloween and financial planning is even stronger. The so-called 'where there's blame, there's a claim' culture has led to financial research company Defaqto to warn that homeowners may well be liable if someone happens to get injured on their property.

Mike Powell calls for homeowners to check their home insurance policy, particularly if they own a dog, as most policies do not cover if a dog attacks a child on your property.

Broderick Perkins of examiner.com also writes of similar concerns. He highlights the importance of keeping your driveway well lit, and to do anything to lessen the likelihood that someone may claim that you were in any way negligent. He also reminds potential party hosts that they can be held responsible if a drunk guest injures anybody or damages property even after leaving your home.

The Insurance Information Institute has put together a list of tips to help everyone have a claim-free - and safe - Halloween. Some examples include: to make sure the kids have their own small torches; to set a trick or treating route to stick to; and to avoid accessories and loose fitting clothes. So no pitch-forks or bed-sheets then?

The idea that it seems to get statistically more likely that you'll end up making a home insurance claim year on year in the UK, and the fact that the very birthplace of the tradition is preparing itself for the possibility of claims from angry parents against homeowners is starting to put me off the whole affair - I wonder when this mentality will arrive here also.

Snow globes are great for any occasion or holiday, simply by changing what you use to create your scene. Just let your imagination run wild!

For example, make a harvest scene for Thanksgiving, a ghostly haunted house for Halloween, a red Valentine heart or colorful Easter/Spring display for the holiday of your choice.

Other themes could include a special birthday or event, sports team, favorite cartoon character or superhero, seashell or Victorian motif, to name just a few.

Once you have an event or theme in mind, it's easy to gather together the elements for a really unique custom made creation.

WINTER CRAFTS SNOW GLOBE

Materials:

Clear Glass Jar with a tight lid (pickle, pimento, jelly, baby food)

Small Waterproof Ornaments, Figures or Decorations

Distilled Water or Water that has been boiled and cooled

Clear Silicone Sealant (Aquarium Sealant) or Florist Clay

Egg Shells or Foil Confetti

Glitter

Glycerin or Mineral Oil

Optional: Plastic Lid to fit inside the jars lid,
Circle of Fabric, Ribbon or Lace

1. Choose a Clean Dry Glass Jar - A baby food jar is perfect for a small kids craft, pimento jars have a unique ball shape, and pickle jars are large enough to allow you to add several elements to your scene. Just fit your jar to your desired final effect. Remove any labels and food residue.

2. Plan your Snow Globe Scene - Search your sewing kit and home craft supplies for materials and inspiration. You can make people, animals, trees - you name it - from craft foam. Sewing findings are a great source of small decorations too. Also consider miniatures at the craft or hobby store. Remember to shop the day after a holiday for lots of discounted items!

3. Secure the Figures and Decorations inside the jar lid with silicone sealant or florist clay. In order to elevate the scene so it is in clear view, glue a plastic lid inside the jar lid or build up the area with a little extra florist clay. Be sure to leave the edges clear so you have room to screw on the lid. Set aside to dry.

4. Prepare Your "Snow" using the shell from a hardboiled egg. Separate the shell from the membrane, place in a sturdy ziploc bag, and crush with a rolling pin. Finer particles will fall more slowly in the snow globe and have a more pleasing effect. However, avoid crushing eggshell into a powder as it will simply float in the water instead of falling gently.

Depending upon your theme, you can change your "snow" to go along with it. Try themed confetti available at craft stores to add an interesting element to your creation. If youre doing a Halloween or Thanksgiving scene, look for foil leaf confetti in fall colors. For Easter you can use foil flower confetti. For a sports theme, use glitter in your favorite teams colors.

The possibilities are endless and ensure that you are creating a one-of-a-kind snow globe!

5. Fill the Snow Globe - When you are pleased with your snow globe scene, fill the jar with distilled water, leaving a little space at the top to accommodate the figures. Add several drops of glycerin to keep the snow suspended and floating properly. Mineral oil or baby oil can also be used in place of the water and glycerin.

6. Add Snow and Glitter - When adding eggshells, make sure you have enough to cover the lid once it has settled to the bottom. Use silver glitter along with the egg shells to make shimmery snow - use one teaspoon of glitter for every inch of water. If youre adventurous, experiment with different effects. Use a drop or two of colored lamp oil to create a swirling effect. Add food coloring to the water or use different colored glitters.

Close the jar tightly and shake your snow globe. Observe how the snow falls and the overall look. Tweak till you get the desired effect by adding a little more snow, glitter or confetti.

7. Seal the Dome - When youre sure the figures and scenery are arranged to your satisfaction, and the snow to water ratio looks good, add a bead of silicone sealant around the threads of the lid and close tightly.

8. Add Final Touches - For a more decorative and finished look, cut a circle of pretty fabric a little larger than the jar lid. Secure to the lid with an elastic band. Hot glue a piece of ribbon or lace over the elastic band.

You'll be proud to display and enjoy your original
winter crafts snow globe creation.

Women's Race Car Driver Costume

Baby, you can drive my car... This three piece costume includes the cropped jacket, pants and belt. Available in Black/Green, sizes small, medium and large.

Halloween, a day of fright, folklore, goblins and above all fun for all those who are of a mind to simply enjoy themselves by letting loose their imagination however many may ask what is the history behind this holiday that has come to be celebrated through out the world? First off all we might ask what are the origins of the name Halloween and what if any meaning does it have?

Regarding the origins of the word Halloween, the answer is a simple one. It all started many centuries ago when there was a Catholic holiday called "All Martyr's Day"; celebrated on May 13 however it came to be that the date was changed to the 1st of November while the name transformed to All Saint's Day". This change prompted that October 31, the day before came to be known as "All Hollow's Evening". As one can now observe "Halloween" is the short form of these two words, put in to one.

This explains the name Halloween however what about the rest? Where did it came about that people took to putting on customs in an attempt to frighten others? Well the explanation to this lies in Ireland; as it was there and according to the calendar of the Celts that the 1st of November was the first day of the year which made the 31st of October the last day. Tradition had it that on this last day of the year which the Celts referred to as Samhain; the line that separated the living from the dead all but disappeared; making it possible for the souls of the dead to intermingle with the living. However the souls of the dead contacted the living with evil intentions. These being to posses their bodies so they might come back to the world of the living, thus escaping from the spiritual world. It was secure in their believe that ancient Celtics felt the need to put on costumes of fright which they felt would surely ward off those evil spirits which were bound to attempt to posses their bodies.

In a way one could see that this to the Celtics which eventually became a tradition was not really so much a matter of having fun but a form of saving their souls and bodies; therefore it was with this in mind that they also went about their neighborhoods making as much noise as possible. Now in the 21st century, we of course can think of this is as being silly but to the Celts it was anything but as it sometimes happened that after Samhain; a person was even killed by those near him or her who believed the person they were killing was no longer the person they had known but a body inhabited by an evil spirit. Naturally with the passing of the years, faith in the concept that one could have one's body taken waned and Halloween became a more ceremonial event as well as a joyous one for both children and adults.

Now a days for instance in the United States, Halloween is the second biggest money making holiday. Second only to Christmas, as it is during the weeks that lead up to this day that many a person; both very young and not so young go out and purchase a costume in order to attend either a Halloween party or go "trick or treating". Costumes however are not the only items available to those wishing to spend money on the celebration of Halloween as they may also acquire decorations, games and even foods connected with this day of ghosts and witches. Yes, Halloween even serves for the purpose of selling food products such as cakes and other edible objects which are made with decorations pertaining to this very special day of the year. All of which making Halloween a day which has more to it then just putting on strange clothes.

During the last few years however the fad has lead people away from costumes of freight such as ghosts or vampires and in to more diversified fields such as some of the younger ladies dressing up as princesses while some of the boys do so as action heroes such as Batman. Of course there are those who obtain their ideas for dressing up from history books and become Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington or other such characters whose image has lasted through out the years. I for my part ;if I could find the costume which would make me the character I wish to be? This I can say with all sincerity that I would become Darth Vader or at least for the day that is Halloween. This being the case since I am a huge Star Wars fan.

Halloween in this day and age is celebrated all through out the world and contrary to what many may think it did not start in the United States but in Ireland and it was also there that the idea of bobbing for apples came about as the Romans brought it when they invaded many years later. Another Halloween tradition in the United States is "trick or treating" however this concept is not connected so much with Samhain but with a certain group of people; who during the middle ages performed an act which came to be called "souling". Souling being where a person would knock on somebody's door asking for "soul cakes" in exchange for which he or she would say a prayer for the souls of the dead relatives of the one who should be generous enough to give out "soul cakes". Today however this practice has changed in many ways as it has turned in to children going from door to door saying "trick or treat"; where the person answering the door is confronted with the choice of either giving a treat which might be a sweet or something of the sort or having some dastardly trick played on his home. These tricks however for the most part are harmless and limited to having something written on his or her door with chalk (which can be easily washed away) or some trash being left and rarely if ever go beyond what could be hailed as a prank.

In conclusion we could say that Halloween is a day that can be celebrated by just about anybody given its not being either a religious holiday nor one connected to patriotism; all of which makes it the ideal international holiday it has become. As for myself personally it has been in the time which I have lived in Poland that I have made every effort to bring the tradition of Halloween not only to my daughter, Paullina but to her friends who last year much to my near shock and that of several of the neighbors went out "trick or treating". All of which made me see that my efforts to bring the wonder of Halloween to Poland have not been in vain.

My name is Gianni Truvianni, I am an author who writes with the simple aim of sharing his ideas, thoughts and so much more of what I am with those who are interested in perhaps reading something new. As for the details regarding my life I would say that there is nothing that lifts them above the ordinary. I was born in New York City in 1967 on May 21st and am presently living in Warsaw, Poland where I wrote my first book "New York's Opera Society" now Available on Amazon.

Pirate Boy Halloween Costume

It seems as though holiday cards have been around as long as the holidays have. History tells us a different story. You may be surprised to know that holiday cards, specifically Christmas cards, first appeared in London in 1843. The very first Christmas cards were requested by Sir Henry Cole that year, and sold for a shilling. Several decades later, Louis Prang offered the first Christmas cards to Americans. It was not too long after, that Christmas cards began to be mass-produced.

Over time, holiday cards evolved into what you have today. Holiday cards have featured everything from patriotic Christmas wishes to presidential Christmas wishes. Today, cards are sent out for just about every holiday, not just Christmas, although Christmas does represent the original holiday for which cards were created.

Today, you can buy a card to celebrate just about any holiday, from Easter and St. Patrick's Day, to Oktoberfest, Cinco de Mayo, and even New Year's Eve. You can literally find a holiday card for just about every occasion, regardless of culture or religion. Whether you're sending out greetings and well-wishes, or inviting people to a holiday party, there is no better way to say it than with a holiday card.

Holiday cards are easy to find just about anywhere, but in most cases, you are limited to the particular style of the store that sells the holiday cards. It can sometimes be difficult to find a card or a series of cards that will be able to send your friends and family member the right message for the holidays. Sometimes, the wording or phrase on a card is right, but not the image. Holidays are times for family, and you don't want to give your relatives and close friends an impersonal-sounding card, so what choices do you have?

One choice is clear: shopping online for personalized cards. Many websites allow you to create customized and personalized invitations at an affordable price, and offer you the latest in design options, from photos and images, to verses and sayings. By utilizing the tools available on the web, have the ability to create holiday cards that are unique to your needs, customs, and traditions. The holidays are important to you, and now you the chance to give your family and friends something more personal than a card that thousands of other people also have access to.

Through the web, you can add your own photos and words, making each card unique and special. You even have the ability to preview your work before you send it out to be printed. Many companies offer same day printing and shipping. Whether you're celebrating Oktoberfest, Hanukkah, or Christmas, many stores are ready and able to help. Shopping online presents you with the perfect avenue to creating cards for the holidays that will be able to say exactly what you want to exactly whom you want to say it to. Celebrate your holidays by ordering personalized cards. Let skilled professionals help you make the perfect holiday memories by creating the perfect holiday cards.

Native American Indian (unisex) Child Halloween Costume Size 8-10 Medium (D49223M)(DF8)

Native American Indian (unisex) Child Halloween Costume includes: Shirt, pants and headband w/ feather. Size 8-10 Medium

It's just the right time of year to start making plans for Halloween. If you don't have small children, or if the weather just isn't right for trick-or-treating, you might want to consider hosting a fun and spooky Halloween party. Of course you'll want to use your own creative spark when hanging decorations and baking snacks, but here are a few basic ideas to get you started.

Decorations

You don't need to spend a lot of money to convert you house into the kind of creepy crawly locale suitable for Halloween. All it takes is a few supplies and a little imagination.

The first step is to choose a theme for your decorations. A little organization can lead to a much more appealing (and frightening) effect than simply taping scary images up. You can host your party in:

  • A haunted mansion
  • An eerie graveyard
  • A mad scientist's laboratory
  • A monster's lair
  • A meeting place for fairy tale witches
  • Any other place you can think of!

The next step is to gather your supplies. Of course, the kind of decorations you want to make will depend on your party's theme. If you're not sure what decorations would work best, or how to create the effect you want, there are plenty of websites with lots of great tips.

Refreshments

As we all know, refreshments are the lifeblood of a party. You don't want to serve any drab snack for a special night like Halloween. Fortunately, there are plenty of easy ways to dress up your favorite foods to create the perfect spooky snack.

For example, let's say you're serving deviled eggs - the perfect food for a scary party, right? After you've prepared the eggs, get some black olives and cut them in half. One half can be placed domed side-up on the egg yolk. The other can be cut into slivers and arranged around the other half. There is now a swarm of huge spiders on your food table.

As you can see, anything you may be preparing can be turned into an appropriately awful surprise for your guests. Simple cookies can become bones, fingers, eyeballs, and bugs. Gelatin can be easily molded into delightful shapes, from brains to space aliens to ghostly ectoplasm. Even harmless homemade breadsticks can become gangly skeletons or witches' brooms.

Check out these ideas I found for making your cupcakes a bit more fancier.

A cupcake is made more attractive by its designs or toppings. You can design your cupcake with the occasion or affair in mind. The ordinary cupcake has come a long way from being the plain and simple small or "mini" cakes of yesteryear. Modern day cupcakes still follow the basic recipe of butter, sugar, eggs and flour. However, the cupcakes of today come in various designs and toppings. The simple frosting and sprinkles combination has been replaced with cupcakes topped with gumpaste flowers, fruits and nuts and come in a variety of colors and flavors.

If you are hosting or planning for an occasion, it would be easier to design your cupcakes with the event in mind. If it's for Halloween or Christmas, you can bake your cupcakes and top them with a dark colored frosting and sprinkle with orange and black sprinkles which you can buy at most confectionery store.

For a fancier design, you can decorate your cupcakes with edible pearls and jewelry, drage, quins, edible leaves or decoratifs. Fresh flowers can also be used as garnishes or toppings for cupcakes. Fruit is another favorite topping of cupcake aficionados. Strawberries, blueberries, mango and the like can serve as tasty decorations.

Fancy and elegant cupcake and muffin papers can also be bought to complement your cupcake motif or theme. Designs range from the colored variety to the super hero, flowers, sports, valentine or any other theme and occasion.

With the popularity of Halloween parties growing with every year, here are a few tips that might assist with the planning and executing of a successful party.

Tip number one- play a recording of spooky sounds or spooky music near the party entrance; it sets the mood as soon as the guests arrive.

Tip number two- create an atmosphere with colored light bulbs or black lights.

Tip number three- pick a theme for the party and coordinate decorations. If the theme is ghosts, make paper ghosts to hang around the house. If the theme is pumpkins, carve pumpkins and place them nearby. You can have a spooky theme for older guests with accompanying decorations. At www.halloween-party-fun.com you can find all of the decorations you'll need.

Tip number four- create party games or crafts for a kids' Halloween party. Make sure that the games are age appropriate. Kids will enjoy making crafts and placing them around the room as decorations.

Tip number five- have a best costume contest. Several categories can be chosen for the contest such as scariest costume, sexiest or funniest. At a child's party, find a reason for everyone to win a prize.

Tip number six- make all foods and snacks related to a Halloween theme. Search the web, magazines or ask friends in search for the cutest recipes.

Tip number seven- make memorable decorations. Pick up a how to book on making your own Halloween decorations.

Tip number eight- put together a scary story with props for teens or pre-teens. Make up a story about a car accident where they had to go around the side of the road looking for body parts. Pass around in the dark a bag of wet spaghetti for a brain, two peeled grapes for eyeballs and water frozen in a latex glove for a hand.

Tip number nine- invite kids to go trick-or-treating together first then back to your house for the party.

Tip number ten- have a safe holiday. Don't allow children to go trick-or-treating by themselves and check all candy before it is eaten.

The holidays are a time of togetherness, a time for friends and family to catch up and enjoy each others' company. It's no wonder meals are a central focus of the holiday schedule what better way to get people together than over a delicious meal? But preparing the perfect holiday feast doesn't require a major investment. Careful planning and smart shopping can help you put together a memorable family meal without breaking your holiday budget. Here are a few simple tips to get you started.

1. Simplify
There's no need to go over the top when it comes to planning your holiday meal most of the staples (turkey, stuffing, vegetables, pie) are relatively inexpensive, especially when you prepare them yourself. Skip fancy hors doeuvres in favor of seasonal favorites, and complement your main dish with simple sides like fresh green beans or mashed potatoes. Simplifying your menu allows you to prepare a big, delicious meal without overspending.

2. Get everyone involved
The holidays are about spending time together, so why not start in the kitchen? Get friends and family involved in the cooking process, or have them bring something with them a pie, a bottle of wine, or a simple side dish. This will not only alleviate the pressure on you to provide everything, but will also get others involved in the process, making the meal more special. If someone insists on a favorite dish (a specific kind of pie, or their favorite side dish), let them make it. Particularly with children, this tactic allows them to see the amount of work that goes into preparing the meal, and will help them appreciate what it means to sit down as a family over the holidays.

3. Shop smart
Instead of hitting the gourmet market, or head to your local big box store or grocer for the best deals on everything you need for your holiday meal. Discount clubs like Costco or Sam's Club have all kinds of holiday-appropriate goods, from food to spices to decor. Spending your money wisely will help your budget stretch further, keeping you in the black this holiday season. Also, keep in mind that Christmas is just around the corner, so stocking up at a discount or wholesale club may be ever more practical if you can get big ticket items like turkeys or hams in bulk, and save enough for your next holiday meal in the freezer. Not only will this help save money, but it will save a lot of time shopping as well.

4. Embrace the holiday spirit
It's easy to get carried away preparing for a big family holiday, particularly when trying to do it on a budget. But don't let the pressure get to you remember that the holidays are about family togetherness and celebrating friends. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that everyone is able to come together and share a special time with one another. Make that the priority, and little things like fancy appetizers or expensive desserts won't be missed.

A lot of people confuse barbecuing with grilling. Barbecuing is when you cook meat over indirect, low heat with wood or charcoal for an extended period of time. One of the first things to do when preparing to barbecue is to marinate or tenderize the meat. A good marinade will break down protein fibers and soften hard and dry meats. There are many things you can use to marinate your meat. You can use pineapple juice or other citrus juices. You could also use tomatoes, buttermilk, wine, or lemon juice. They also sell a variety of different marinades at grocery stores. If you add extra virgin olive oil to any of your marinades, you will have a tenderizing marinade.

To seal in the juices of your steak, you should cook it on medium to high heat. You can brush melted butter or olive oil mixed with spices on the steak when you put it on the heat. Then once you flip it to the other side, you can brush it on there, too.

You should only flip the steak one time and you should never puncture the steak with a fork. Always use tongs or a spatula to handle the steak, so that you don't let any of the flavorful juices drip out onto the bottom of the grill and out of your delicious steak!

It is good to keep tabs on the internal temperature of the meat, and you can do this easily with an inexpensive meat thermometer. You will want to take the meat off of the barbecue just before it is actually done cooking and let it sit for a little while. It will continue to cook for several minutes after being removed from the grill. If you don't take this into account, your meat can get overcooked and/or dry.

Wonder Woman Deluxe Costume Adult

This Amazon beauty has been given powers by the Greek gods and goddesses. Deluxe costume includes red & blue strapless mini dress with Wonder Woman logo, star accents, red cape, gauntlets, red velvet & white boot tops*, and gold tiara with a red star (Note: Tiara is slightly smaller than pictured). Available in Adult sizes: X-Small, Small, and Medium. *Please Note: It has just come to our attention that due to a manufacturer error there maybe some bleeding of color on the boot tops. If you receive a pair with a lot of color bleeding, please call Customer Service to arrange a replacement pair. We apologize for the inconvenience. Also, due to a style change by the manufacturer the boot tops are now red velvet instead of the red shown in the image. This is an officially licensed Wonder WomanTM costume. TM & © DC Comics.
Customer Review: Boot covers...
Beware of the boot covers that come with the costume. They are not the same ones pictured on the model. The ones that come in the package are a cheap velvety material that are so loose, they end up all twisted and gather at the shins. They look more like leg warmers! I went ahead and purchased the 3" Gogo boots. They work awesome and are super comfy.
Customer Review: Great Costume Bad Vendor
When I received this costume the first time, the bag was ripped opened. The white part of the boot covers were stained red and the accessories like the belt, wrist bands and crown were not sewn or the Velcro part was loose. The main costume was stretched out. I called and waited a week for it to be replaced. The second replacement was a little better but the boots were still stained and this time the belt was missing. At this point since I needed the costume that week, I called and requested the belt to be shipped which they did. I would not get a costume from this vendor unless you plan to get something damaged, It looks to me that they store their costumes in hot storage areas causing the colors to bleed example the boot covers. Also the costume itself runs pretty big. I ordered a medium and I am a size 10, should have ordered a small. But, it is a nice looking costume you should get but from another reliable vendor not this one.

When one thinks of the state of Illinois one of the first cities they will most likely think of is Chicago. However, when someone thinks of the state of Illinois, the odds are pretty good that they aren't going to first visualize many villages within the state. Big cities and big businesses are the first thing that most people are first to associate with the state of Illinois. However, there are still a few villages out there in Illinois.

The village of Monee, Illinois is one of those villages. As of the year 2000 census there were only approximately 3,000 residents in the village. Monee, Illinois is located approximately 40 miles south of Chicago. Despite being located so far from downtown Chicago and only having a small amount of residents, Monee healthcare is some of the best around.

If you are looking for fun things to do in Monee, look no further than the golf course. Monee's golf course covers thirty four acres and is open from April through October. If you are visiting Monee in the fall season, be sure to check out their Fall Faire. This Faire has been operating since 1995 and is a three day event. All of the organizations in and around the area participate in this fun event. There are plenty of activities including food, games, crafts and more. Also held in conjunction with the Fall Faire is the community garage sale in which anyone can participate. The garage sale itself is so large that they will even provide you with a map of all of the sales. You could also visit the Monee hospital if you start to feel queasy from all the food you might consume. The Halloween party is also a great place for entertainment. This party takes place in the middle of the village with food, games and prizes for kids of all ages. The party also includes a haunted house and the annual Halloween bonfire.

Also located in the middle of the village there is a park that has recently been upgraded. The park now includes a tennis and basketball court as well as a large baseball field. The park also has a football field which will eventually be able to convert to a soccer field as well. Located throughout all parts of the village are tot lots where the younger children can have a place to play.

Although Monee may not be the biggest city in Illinois, it sure is a place that provides a great sense of community. Whether you are a long time resident or merely in the village for the Monee, Illinois hospital, there is always something happening in a community that will welcome you with open arms. Monee is a wonderful place to raise a family with most of the events centered around children.

Once you know what type of creative costume your want for your pet you will need to decide what you will use for accessories. If you are planning on having your cat be a dog for Halloween you might want to have him wear bones made out of paper around his neck. Just something simple and cute like that would work. Why not have your pet's costume match the theme as your children's? Your little girl could be Bo Peep while your black lab could be her lost sheep. Looking for an idea that is a little more complicated? Have your son be Elliot and your rat terrier can be E.T. the alien. The most fun part about Halloween is that you get to let your imagination and creativity run wild.

If you are planning on taking your old pooch "trick-or-treating" with the family you will want to take this into consideration, does the costume work well with a collar and leash? You wouldn't want something tragic to happen to your beloved friend on such a joyous evening. In the even that you might be out past dark you should put reflective tape on the collar and leash of your pets. You could also purchase these accessories that are made for doing such activities in the dark. Also, make sure the costume fits properly. Too small of a costume could be hazardous to your pet because it might not allow your pet to move as easily. If danger where to head your way your pet might not be able to get out of the way in time due to the restrictions. Always be sure to never leave your pet unattended while in a costume. An animal can easily become tangled up while wearing a costume and this could lead to serious injuries or even death.

You can shop for your cat or dog Halloween costume at most pet stores. Online is another option for shopping. Many pet suppliers have catalogues that you can have shipped right to your door to look through. You will be able to mail in an order or even make a purchase online. Making your own costume is another possibility. You can find free patterns or patterns for a relatively low cost online or at fabric stores. Whichever method you decide to use to allow your pet to join in on the fun is up to you. Just be sure to have the perfect fit for the safety of your pet. Don't forget to give your pet a couple treats, too.

Child's Daniel Boone Halloween Costume (Size: Large 12-14)

Shh...don't tell anyone, because I would never want to sound like a party pooper, but I do have to quietly admit to you that holiday parties have never been a favorite time in the classroom for me. I don't know, 30 kids wired up on excitement, sugar, and costumes...what am I missing?

So, with that in mind, I've always tried to sneak in learning activities that have the disguise of holiday celebrations! When I was a classroom teacher my holiday parties strongly resembled "center activities" where students moved from one activity to the next. Kids know how to do this normal classroom routine and this kept craziness to a minimum.

Holiday activities can still meet content and technology standards yet be disguised as holiday activities. Really, many of the best school activities that we can remember from our childhood are probably activities that we enjoyed foremost, and if we reflected really hard, we'd find learning behind the scenes.

Keeping the multiple intelligences in mind, we can have students engaged in activities that meet those intelligences while celebrating the "second most popular holiday" Halloween. We can focus on internet research and information gathering while learning about the history of Halloween. After all, actually reading and gathering information to share with others is an important skill. Using visual and spacial intelligence students can create an imaginary map of Transylvania and include a required list of objects and areas along with a key, compass rose, and title.

Using interpersonal intelligence the children can write group stories. Each child writes a beginning of a story and after five minutes the computers all shift to the right (or the children shift if you are using desktop machines.) After four or five shifts the stories return to the original child so an ending can be added. Share with the class.

Designing recipes for Halloween potions and then changing the amount of ingredients to serve 15, 30, or 5 guests will inspire the logical/mathematical minds to engage!

How about using the verbal/linguistic aspects of the minds to create creative epitaphs. So often we see Halloween displays in local yards with interesting gravestones. Write some for yourself and have your students write some for themselves and their family members.

Bodily/Kinesthetic learners will enjoy a rousing game of charades based upon October or Halloween careers. Who will act out the mortician? How about the scarecrow? Can you be an apple picker?

Some radio stations have been known to begin playing Christmas carols immediately following Halloween. Where are all the Halloween carols? The musical intelligence within us will inspire Halloween carols. Review some online and then create your own.

I have done many of these activities in the computer lab; especially the history lesson, the map drawing (using KidPix), and the epitaph creation (using KidPix). I've used laptops with groups to do the interpersonal story writing.

Hopefully some of these activities will help you continue to make kids think and expand their minds while also celebrating the holiday season.

So, sneak in learning when you can under whatever disguise is required!

Christmas is celebrated around the world. While every family or community has their own traditions, there are certain regional traditions that are very specific and vary widely from region to region.

In Italy, from Rome south the traditional Christmas Eve dinner is that of seven fish. Throughout Italy, the Christmas Eve meals are traditionally meatless, given that the day is a day of abstinences in the Catholic Church. Another wonderful Italian culinary Christmas tradition is that of the Milanese Panattone. A sweet bread loaded with raisins, candied fruits and nuts. It is perfect for breakfast and makes incredible French toast.

Just north of Italy is Germany, where there is a rich tradition of the outdoor Christmas Markets. Despite the cold temperatures German families head outside to shop for classic Christmas goodies and to enjoy regional specific Christmas goodies. This tradition dates back to the 14th Century. The markets open during the end of November and stay open until right before Christmas Eve,

Another German tradition is that of Gluehwein and Stollen. Spiced Wine and the traditional German Christmas cake, loaded with raisins and nuts and covered in a sugar glaze are a time honored Christmas treat in German homes.

In Greece, Christmas is celebrated on December 25, unlike the celebration of Easter, which follows the Orthodox calendar. While Christmas in Greece is very important, it is a much more solemn holiday than in the West and therefore there are less gaudy decorations and more focus on the religious nature of the holiday.

In England the tradition of Wassailing dates back to the middle ages. Wassil, a heady mix of honey, ale and spices, is best shared among a group. Severed in a bowl or huge pewter or wooden mug, it would be passed around the group as a greeting. Traditionally the bowl would be carried from house to house celebrate and share a holiday greeting.

In England, Boxing Day is the day following Christmas. Traditionally and historically a day set aside for the poor, it is now a national holiday in England. In the 18th century and forward, the Lord and Lady of the manor would "box" up their leftovers and small gifts to provide to the servants of the manor house and tenants on their land. Since many of the household servants and other poorly paid workers would be required to work on Christmas Day, Boxing Day was the day they would go to visit their family.

In England during the 21st century, Boxing Day is a day to visit family, a day to offer small tokens to tradesmen, such as the milkman or postman. Families often gather to play board games and share a meal, enjoy a walk in the countryside or indulge in a break with tradition and go shopping, checking out the New Year sales early.

In Mexico the celebration of Christmas begins on December 16th with the nine days of Las Posadas. Las Posadas is a nine-day celebration, which includes candle lit processions and lively parties. Another wonderful Christmas tradition is the Shepard's plays. Professional groups and armatures put on these reenactments of the Christmas stories alike.

In Mexican houses, the principal Christmas decoration is the Nativity Scene. It is often built by hand and assembled over the course of the season.

In Brazil, the tradition of Las Pasadas is also widely practices, only in the Brazilian version of the plays, it is a shepherdess who is following the star and a gypsy woman who has designs on stealing the figure of the Christ child fro the nativity scene.

Brazil has a very multicultural history and many of their traditions vary widely by region, based upon immigration patterns. The same is to be said for Australia. It is also important to not that in both of these multicultural countries that it is summer, so many families celebrate Christmas by dining outdoors and enjoying the abundant sunshine and warm temperatures.

In India, even though Christians are a minority group, Christmas is still celebrated and is a good mix of British traditions from the colonial period and rich regional additions. In some areas banana trees and mango trees are decorated with lights. Greetings are shared with neighbors and parties are hosted. In urban areas, hotels and nightclub host office and families parties. Santa Klaus pays a visit to good boys and girls.

In Japan, less than 1% of the population is Christian, but Christmas is celebrated nonetheless. For Christians the holiday is less about exchanging gifts with family members and more about sharing good cheer with the poor and especially those who are in the hospital. Many businesses and private homes decorate with evergreens and bows.

No matter how the holiday is celebrated, Christmas is about love and compassion & food and family. The greatest gifts of the season are togetherness and love, no matter the language or the food.

Adult Men's Hansel Halloween Costume

A career as a Physician Assistant (PA) requires one to enjoy working with and helping patients, have the ability to act quickly and calmly in an emergent situation, and have an appreciation for the study of medicine.

Physician Assistants practice medicine under the direct supervision of physicians and surgeons, and are considered and extension of the physician. The role of the Physician Assistant is to perform routine tasks and relieve the physician of these duties.

PAs are formally trained to diagnose, treat, and provide preventative health care services, as delegated by a supervising physician. They also treat minor injuries and suture lacerations, splint or cast injured limbs, fingers, and toes. PAs record medical record documentation, instruct and council patients, and write prescriptions as permitted by law. Many PAs take on administrative duties as well and supervise other practice staff, order supplies, and generally oversee the daily activities of the clinical portion of the practice.

Many Physician Assistants work in primary care offices, such as pediatrics, family medicine, and internal medicine. PAs may also work in specialty practices in surgery, emergency medicine, urgent care, orthopedics, and geriatrics. Hospitals, outpatient clinics, health insurance companies, schools, and the government also employ Physician Assistants.

Physician Assistant education programs are two years and many PA programs have clinical teaching affiliations with medical schools. To qualify for admission to a PA program, some college and healthcare experience is required. Typical PA students have a bachelors degree and approximately four years of experience in a healthcare career, commonly nursing, EMT, or paramedic. PAs receive hands-on clinical training and usually rotate through several areas of specialized medicine, including geriatrics, pediatrics, gynecology, and psychiatry.

Physician Assistants are required to pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination, administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is open only to graduates of accredited PA schools. PAs must log 100 hours of continuing education every two years and sit for a recertification exam every six years.

A physician assistant career can be highly profitable. Learn what it takes to get into physician assistant schools from http://www.careertoolkits.com
